Job summary

Aviva Canada is seeking an AVP, Technology & Transformation Risk to lead second-line oversight of technology, data privacy, data governance, cybersecurity and transformation across Aviva Canada. In this role, you’ll shape how we manage data risk, strengthen controls, and respond to an evolving regulatory and technology landscape.

You’ll work closely with partners across the business to provide independent challenge, guide decision-making, and support strong governance practices.

Qualifications

• Degree in CS, Data Science, Math, Business, or related field.
• 10+ years in data governance, data management, analytics, or related.
• Strong knowledge of cyber security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST).
• Understanding of data privacy, data quality, and regulatory expectations.
• Excellent communication and ability to influence at all levels.
• Experience in risk assessment, controls review, and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Provide second-line oversight of technology, data privacy, and data governance risks.
• Partner with first-line teams to strengthen controls and data practices.
• Lead data risk reviews and regulatory-aligned assessments.
• Deliver insightful, trend-focused risk reports.
• Build relationships to support risk management across the business.
• Champion cybersecurity, data governance, privacy, GenAI, and automation.
• Collaborate to enable safe automation and AI use cases.
• Maintain governance documentation and support compliance.
• Contribute to strong customer outcomes through risk oversight.
