Job summary

Baker Tilly Canada is seeking a Senior Tax Manager to join our Ontario team in Winchester. You will review complex Canadian tax returns, provide tax planning and advisory services, and lead engagements for private companies.

You will collaborate with Tax Partners and senior staff to ensure high-quality work, grow client relationships, and coach staff to reach their full potential. This role offers growth within a leading advisory firm and a supportive, client-focused culture.

Qualifications

  • CPA designation (CPA Canada) or equivalent is required.
  • CPA In-Depth Tax Course or Master of Tax program completed.
  • 7+ years of public accounting experience with a tax specialization.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian tax issues and GAAP tax provisions.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Caseware/Caseview, TaxPrep, and tax research software.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project management skills.
  • Ability to lead and coach staff and manage client relationships.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Passion for tax work.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality tax planning, services, and advice.
  • Work closely with Tax Partners and other senior staff on business tax compliance, tax provision and tax advisory engagements.
  • Lead special tax engagements.
  • Actively mentor and coach staff to their highest potential.
  • Build and manage client relationships at a senior level and identify client service opportunities.

Your role:
  • Review complex Canadian individual and corporate tax returns and other tax work prepared by staff

What you bring to the table:
  • Canadian Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) or equivalent
  • Successful completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course or Master of Tax Program
  • 7+ years of public accounting experience with a tax specialty
  • Excellent technical knowledge of Canadian tax related issues and of GAAP requirements for tax provisions
  • High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), Caseware/Caseview, TaxPrep, and tax research software
  • Excellent attention to detail, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, project management and organizational skills
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to coach and develop team members
  • Ability to effectively pivot between tasks, prioritize and manage deliverables to meet conflicting deadlines
