Position Title: Senior Tax Manager

The Opportunity:

HireNow Staffing has partnered with a reputable, independently owned accounting firm in Markham to help identify their next Senior Tax Manager. This is not your average check-the-box role it's an opportunity to lead a growing tax practice where your technical expertise, leadership, and strategic thinking will directly shape client outcomes and team development.

You'll be the go-to expert for sophisticated tax planning matters, cross-functional engagements, and high-value clients looking for guidance beyond compliance. You'll lead a team of high-performing professionals and help build tax strategies that fuel growth for privately held businesses, entrepreneurs, and high-net-worth individuals.

Responsibilities
  • Lead complex tax engagements, including reorganizations, estate planning, corporate structuring, and compliance

  • Review and oversee the preparation of T1, T2, and T3 returns, ensuring accuracy and timeliness

  • Act as a strategic advisor to clients on tax-saving opportunities and long-term planning

  • Support partners on high-level tax initiatives and special projects across various industries

  • Mentor and develop a team of tax professionals providing feedback, setting performance expectations, and supporting continued learning

  • Stay current on tax legislation and translate regulatory changes into practice-wide process improvements

  • Contribute to internal leadership meetings with insight into tax operations, resource planning, and process optimization

Qualifications
  • CPA designation in good standing (Canada)

  • Completion of the CPA In-Depth Tax Program (mandatory for this role)

  • At least 10 years of experience in public practice, with a significant focus on Canadian private company taxation

  • Demonstrated success leading tax planning engagements and managing complex client files

  • A minimum of 2 years in a Manager or Senior Manager role, with a proven ability to supervise, mentor, and retain staff

  • Hands-on experience with CaseWare, CaseView, and Taxprep

  • A consultative approach, strong communication skills, and the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues alike

Compensation & Work Environment
  • Base Salary: $125,000 - $160,000 CAD (based on experience)

  • Bonus Structure: Performance-based, with annual review

  • Work Location: Markham, Ontario On-site presence required

  • Relocation Assistance: Not available for this role
