Your role
  • Review of a wide range of personal tax, review and compilation engagements and ensure all tax related matters have been adequately addressed prior to filing
  • Review complex Canadian individual and corporate tax returns and other tax work prepared by staff
  • Review and approve technical research and tax planning recommendations for private companies
  • Deliver high quality tax planning, services, and advice
  • Work closely with Partners and other senior staff on business tax compliance, tax provision and tax advisory engagements
  • Lead special tax engagements
  • Build and manage client relationships at a senior level and identify client service opportunities
  • Provide support, coaching and development of firm staff with respect to tax knowledge and matters on an ongoing basis
  • Preparation and presentation of technical sessions to firm staff
  • Managing engagement financials including budgets, work in process variances and billing
What you bring to the table
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Designation or equivalent
  • Successful completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course or Master of Tax Program
  • 7-10+ years of public accounting experience with experience in a tax specific environment
  • High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), Caseware, and TaxPrep considered an asset
  • Excellent attention to detail and project management skills
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work both independently and demonstrated ability to work with other’s effectively as part of a team
  • Understanding of a client-focused fast paced work environment and the ability to effectively pivot between tasks, prioritize and manage deliverables to meet conflicting deadlines
  • Experience working with owner managed businesses considered an asset
