Job summary

Thales Canada Defence & Security in Ottawa is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Innovation team. You will translate operational needs into system and subsystem requirements, manage traceability, and collaborate with Business Development, Product Engineers and Software Engineers to deliver integrated autonomous LC4ISR solutions.

This role requires a seasoned systems thinker, comfort with iterative development, and willingness to travel to east or west coast for technical support.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in design and integration of complex systems.
• 3–7 years in systems engineering, requirements engineering or complex software/system integration.
• Experience eliciting and managing technical requirements.
• Knowledge of systems engineering principles: decomposition, interfaces, traceability.

Responsibilities

• Tailor the system engineering process, practices and tools.
• Provide timely and accurate status updates.
• Develop preliminary and detailed designs for system and subsystem elements.
• Review and validate internal and subcontractor designs, plans and schedules.
• Author technical documentation to capture architecture, interfaces and installation elements.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure designs meet end-user needs.
• Support verification and validation activities and test plans.
• Coordinate system integration and testing with cross-functional teams.
• Manage requirements traceability from customer needs through design and verification.
• Travel for technical support and installations as needed.
