Job summary

SCIEX, a Danaher company, is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to design, characterize and verify key technologies on world‑class mass spectrometers in Concord, Ontario. Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Applied Physics, Analytical/Applied Chemistry, Analytical Instrumentation or a related technical discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in analytical system hardware, firmware, software, or applications development.
• Experience with ISO13845 QMS and/or ISO 14971.

Responsibilities

• Translate customer, business, marketing, and regulatory needs into system requirements and allocate to subsystems.
• Lead integration of analytical instrumentation across hardware, software, mechanical, and analytical disciplines.
• Lead system-level risk management, FMEAs, and complex investigations with cross-functional teams.
• Drive system readiness for Verification and Validation by monitoring maturity, reliability, costs, risks, and issues.
• Maintain technical documentation and design history records and communicate complex technical information.

The Senior Systems Engineer is a customer-focused role responsible for to helping us design, characterize and verify key technologies on world‑class mass spectrometers. In this capacity, the candidate will be part of high‑performing, multi‑disciplinary project teams participating in all phases of product development from concept to product launch. The individual will solve design problems through collaboration with multiple technical disciplines within the engineering and science community, while following established guidelines, procedures, and design practices.

The position reports to the System Engineering Manager and is part of the Product Development team located in Concord, Ontario. This is an on‑site role.

In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To

• Translate customer, business, marketing, and regulatory needs into defined system requirements and allocate requirements across subsystems.
• Lead integration of complex analytical instrumentation across hardware, software, mechanical, and analytical disciplines.
• Lead system‑level risk management, FMEAs, and complex technical investigations, coordinating cross‑functional teams through root‑cause identification and resolution.
• Drive system readiness for Verification and Validation by monitoring technical maturity, reliability, cost, risks, and issues.
• Maintain required technical documentation and design history records while effectively communicating complex technical information across diverse audiences.

The Essential Requirements Of The Job Include

• Degree in Engineering, Applied Physics, Analytical/Applied Chemistry, Analytical Instrumentation or a related technical discipline.
• 7 or more years of experience in analytical system hardware, firmware, software, and/or applications development
• Experience working with ISO13845 QMS and/or ISO 14971

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Practical experience with Mass spectrometer, GC/LC chromatography systems or similar.

The salary range for this role is $111,000 - $130,000 CAD. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
