In this position, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including electrical, mechanical, software, and airworthiness engineers, as well as product managers, program managers, and customers—to ensure on-time delivery of advanced avionics products.

This role offers the opportunity to grow as a subject matter expert (SME), lead initiatives, and innovate at the system level. The position can be based at either our Kelowna, BC or Ottawa, ON office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Author, review, and maintain system requirements, compliance matrices, test plans, procedures, and reports.
  • Develop and manage system safety deliverables (FHA, PSA, SSA, etc.).
  • Deliver system documentation such as Interface Control Documents (ICDs), user guides, installation manuals, and drawings.
  • Support hardware-software integration, debug, and SIL creation.
  • Provide on-aircraft integration and support, including developmental and certification flight testing.
  • Manage lifecycle upgrades while maintaining compliance with safety and airworthiness regulations.
  • Collaborate with airworthiness authorities (EASA, TCCA, FAA) and produce required certification artefacts.
  • Mentor team members, lead design reviews, audits, and system verification activities.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for certification and operational use.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years in systems engineering, including at least 3 years in aerospace, defense, or other regulated industries.
  • Strong knowledge of avionics integration, aerospace communication systems, and ground systems.
  • Proficiency with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, RMSys).
  • Experience with system safety assessment methodologies and relevant standards.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux/Windows environments, networking, and system automation.
  • Proficiency with system modeling and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, ModelSim).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with interface standards and protocols: SPI, I2C, UART, USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular, RS422/485, ARINC429, MIL-1553, PCIe.
