Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years of land surveying experience.

Company Description Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grands Projets are to design, build and finance the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations and Tunnel (South Civil) package.

Company Description Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grands Projets are to design, build and finance the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations and Tunnel (South Civil) package. Working together as Ontario Transit Group we are currently mobilizing our design and construction crews, with major works to commence in 2023. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030. The project will strengthen Ontario's economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction.

What is the project?
  • A six-kilometer tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River)
  • Stations:
    • One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station
    • Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations
    • Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown)

Job Description

The Senior Surveyor leads and performs field and office survey activities, ensure accurate data collection and reporting, and supports the development and maintenance of the Survey Control Network. This role includes mentoring survey staff, maintaining high-quality standards, and contributing to workflow improvements to support successful construction and engineering projects.

The salary range for this position is $120,000 CAD - $140,000 CAD, plus additional benefits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute assigned survey tasks in both field and office settings, ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance with project specifications, safety standards, and organizational procedures.
  • Prepare, organize, and validate all fieldwork data before and after execution, including equipment setup, data calibration, upload, processing, and documentation to support accurate and efficient survey operations.
  • Conduct thorough quality control reviews of all collected survey data, verifying accuracy, consistency, and alignment with the project's technical requirements and actual site conditions.
  • Develop clear, comprehensive, and well-structured survey reports to support the production of as-built drawings, engineering deliverables, and project documentation.
  • Identify, recommend, and assist in implementing improvements to survey methods, workflows, and tools to enhance operational efficiency, data accuracy, and overall team performance.
  • Provide ongoing support, mentorship, and guidance to surveyors and survey assistants, helping them strengthen their technical skills, field practices, and understanding of survey standards.
  • Properly manage, care for, and safeguard all company equipment and materials assigned to them, ensuring proper handling, storage, maintenance, and reporting of any issues or needs.
  • Assist in establishing, maintaining, and monitoring the Survey Control Network, including carrying out measurements, installing benchmarks, and verifying the stability and accuracy of control points throughout project lifecycle.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in land surveying, demonstrating a strong track record of delivering accurate, reliable, and high-quality survey data across diverse project environments.
  • Experience in supervising, coordinating, and leading survey teams is considered a significant asset, including the ability to provide technical direction, support workflow planning, and foster a collaborative and high-performing work culture.
  • Exhibit an in-depth understanding of civil construction practices, engineering methods, and project workflows, enabling effective integration of survey data with construction activities and design requirements.
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships across multidisciplinary teams, collaborate with various departments, and engage effectively with all levels of site leadership and management.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, with the ability to prepare clear documentation, reports, and data presentations.
  • Working knowledge of design and drafting software such as Autodesk Civil 3D, enabling effective interpretation of design models, preparation of survey deliverables, and review of construction drawings.
  • Familiarity with Point Cloud processing software, including the ability to analyze, manage, and extract accurate data from 3D scan datasets.
  • Highly skilled in the operation of a wide range of modern survey instruments, including laser scanners, robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, and digital levels, ensuring precision and efficiency in field data collection.
  • Holding a recognized professional designation such as Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) is preferred, reflecting advanced competency, adherence to professional standards, and commitment to ongoing development.
