A leading engineering firm in Canada is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer for Transmission Towers. This hybrid role involves managing new projects and requires expertise in structural engineering related to transmission line foundations. Ideally, candidates will have a Civil Engineering degree, a California PE license, and seven years of relevant experience. Competitive compensation based on experience will be provided.

Job description

We have an immediate opportunity for Senior Structural Engineer for Transmission Towers for the Los Angeles area. This position requires management and development of new projects once all data and information are collected. The ideal candidate will play an active role in research and design and will require strategic decision‑making process for new projects. This is a hybrid with at least two days in the office on Wednesday and Thursdays required.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for management and developing new projects once data is received
  • Ability to lead a team performing structural engineering tasks related to lattice towers in complex transmission line projects for the structure and foundation
  • Perform and act as the go-to-expert in PLS Tower analysis and/or modeling of existing and new Lattice Tower following client’s guidelines
  • Responsible to act as a subject matter expert in design or review of existing Transmission line foundations (Drilled concrete shaft, direct embed, Micro pile and Grillage) using FAD Tools, hand calcs or similar programs
  • Experience performing Transmission line structural Load calculations based on NESC, G095 and other applicable codes
  • Build effective relationships with other responsible entities
  • Oversee QA/QC processing adhering to company safety standards
  • Provide expert guidance on new installation and the ability to evaluate existing structures
  • Responsible for leading construction administration efforts including supporting construction activities coordinating with the field teams and the inspectors on various issues which include emergency restoration efforts due to wildfires, storms, and other incidents.
  • Proven leadership, mentorship, and guidance, and instruction to the transmission engineering team
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil engineering, Structural
  • California Civil PE license required
  • California SE (Structural)
  • Seven plus years’ experience of technical experience in Transmission and/or Distribution engineering
  • Engineering experience with Electric Utility Distribution and Transmission Systems using G095, NESC, and ASCE codes and guidelines with PLS-TOWER, PLS-CADD, FAD TOOLS
