Qualifications

• Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Civil Engineering, specializing in structures.
• Ability to register as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Manitoba and other jurisdictions.
• Broad knowledge of civil designs and understanding of codes and Canadian construction methods.
• Able to work in consulting, design-build and EPCM formats.
• Material design experience with steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, wood, and cladding systems.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.

Responsibilities

• Provide lead structural design and technical support including concept design and calculations.
• Coordinate with 4 structural drafters and two structural engineers.
• Review project documents prior to issue; conduct technical checks and drawings reviews.
• Develop and maintain positive in-house staff relationships and participate in hiring and performance reviews.

Senior Structural Design Engineer and Project Manager

We are seeking services for long term employment of an experienced and qualified SeniorStructural Design Engineer and Project Manager to join their close-knit Winnipeg basedteam. Boge & Boge Ltd. and Diaser Management (2006) Ltd, is a family-run design andconstruction firm serving industrial and commercial clients with a hands-on, personalapproach that larger companies often can't match. We're looking for someone who shares these values and takes pride in doing engineeringwork the right way. The ideal candidate is someone with 10+ years’ experience in consultingengineering for commercial and industrial projects. Areas of knowledge would includereinforced concrete, structural steel, wood frame and masonry and various types offoundation systems.

• Provide lead structural design and technical support including concept design,calculations, connection design, field investigations, and solutions for the construction orrepair of industrial facilities. Experience in commercial construction including warehouseand multi-unit residential work is beneficial.
• Work with 4 structural drafters and two structural engineers.
• Review project documents prior to issue, including coordination and technical checks,drawing standard conformance, shop drawing review, scope and presentation.
• Develop and maintain positive in-house staff relationships and assist with staff hiring andperformance review.
• Develop and maintain positive, sustainable client relationships.
• Coordinate and work with project team members including other in-house disciplinesand subcontracted services.
• Report to the Operations manager as well as president and coordinate with otherdepartment heads including financial, mechanical engineering and construction services.
• Create documents related to scope of work, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies andprovide input on and/or submit proposals/bids and generate technical reports.
• Review and generate general notes for structural projects.
• Write specifications and review contract documents.
• Conduct site visual reviews and provide condition assessment reports.

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Civil Engineering, specializing in structures.
• Ability to register as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the province of Manitoba and other jurisdictions.
• Broad scope knowledge of civil designs and an understanding of industry codes,standards, and Canadian construction methods
• Able to work in consulting, design-build and EPCM contract formats.
• Material design experience, including the use of structural steel, reinforced concrete,masonry, wood and cladding systems. Familiar with Canadian Standards for thesematerials.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to handle multiple tasks andprioritize work for team
• Practical Design Skill set, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Familiarity with the latest version of the National Building Code of Canada is required.
• Structural steel detailing and connection design is an asset.
• Experience working on commercial, mining and/or heavy industrial, and edible oil facilityprojects is an asset
• Preparing Engineering estimates and Construction Budget preparation is an asset.
• Project Management skills including familiarity with Microsoft Project is an asset.
