About the Opportunity

Welch LLP is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant specializing in Tax to join our team. In this role, you will prepare and review tax returns, ensure compliance with Canadian tax regulations, and provide strategic tax planning advice to clients.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute specialized partnerships, corporate income, and individual tax returns
  • Plan and execute fieldwork assignments, including managing budget and resource needs
  • Establish and maintain effective client relationships
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff
  • Prepare corporate tax returns
  • Participate in income tax and indirect tax planning and consulting
  • Think strategically about client needs by understanding their business to serve as a trusted business advisor
  • Anticipate technical issues to avoid crises and, where required, develop sound solutions
  • Involve appropriate firm personnel to ensure all aspects associated with the work have been properly addressed
  • Demonstrate technical competence in practice discipline, serve as a technical resource for staff, and provide suggestions for resolving technical issues
  • Prepare voluntary disclosures for corporate tax related issues
  • Conduct tax research
  • Attend relevant workshops and conferences to remain up‑to‑date on corporate tax issues
Qualifications
  • University degree or college diploma specializing in Accounting
  • Minimum of 2 years of public accounting experience
  • CPA, CA designation obtained or nearing completion (preferred)
  • Experience with TaxPrep is a strong asset
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of Canadian tax regulations is advantageous
  • Strong planning, organization, and engagement control skills
  • Client‑focused mindset with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Respectful interpersonal skills and aptitude for dealing with people
  • Ability to work under pressure with good judgment and common sense
  • Proven problem‑solving skills with the ability to propose effective solutions
  • Strong communication skills in English; bilingualism (English and French) is an asset
