Job summary

Fuller Landau LLP in Toronto or Hamilton is seeking an Intermediate Staff Accountant to provide technical support across engagements, including compilation statements and corporate tax work. You will contribute to bookkeeping, payroll, and financial reporting in a collaborative environment.

The role requires at least three years of tax experience in public accounting, proficiency with Caseware/Caseview and TaxPrep, and strong communication.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Caseware/Caseview and TaxPrep.
  • Experience with investment bookkeeping.
  • Proficient in QuickBooks, Word and Excel; highly computer literate.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; able to meet deadlines.
  • Strong commitment to quality and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare compilation financial statements and corporate tax returns.
  • Perform full-cycle bookkeeping including adjusting entries and reconciliations.
  • Handle investment bookkeeping and related tax slips.
  • Support payroll processing using online providers.
  • Prepare T1, T2, T3, T5013 and T2054 tax returns.
  • Draft client engagement correspondence and coordinate information.
  • Assist/train team members.
  • Manage client communications and respond to questions.
  • Coordinate with clients for information gathering.

Your opportunity

The Senior Staff Accountant provides technical support to all types of engagements.

The team offers compilation financial statements, corporate income tax preparation, investment bookkeeping, and T3s, T4s, and T5s.

In addition, the successful candidate will assist with bookkeeping, payroll, managing banking and finance relationships, management reporting, government filings, and general business advice.

Your major responsibilities
  • Preparation of compilation financial statements and corporate tax returns (all levels of complexity)
  • Demonstrates strong full cycle bookkeeping skills including preparation of adjusting journal entries, preparation of bank reconciliations, calculation of depreciation, income tax accruals and reconciliation of inter-company accounts
  • Strong investment bookkeeping skills (dealing with portfolios, handling dividends, capitals gains and reconciliation to corresponding T3, T5 tax slips etc)
  • Knowledge of payroll processing using internet-based payroll service providers (Payweb, Ceridian and ADP)
  • Preparation of tax returns: T1, T2 (including Schedules T106 & T1134), T3, T5013 and T2054
  • Preparation of tax and regulatory forms (T4, T5, GST/HST, EHT & WSIB)
  • Assist/train other team members
  • Drafting correspondence related to client engagements
  • Coordinate with client to gather information and be available to answer questions

  • Investment bookkeeping
  • Proficient in Quickbooks, Word and Excel, and highly computer literate overall
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential to this role
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Must have a strong commitment to quality
