Overview

Senior Staff Accountant

As a Senior Staff Accountant, you will meet with FBC Members in their place of business to understand their financial situation and provide tailored tax strategies that minimize taxes in both the short and long term. In addition, you will introduce them to our full range of services, including bookkeeping, legal assistance, payroll, and access to financial and estate planning professionals. This includes support in areas such as estate planning, retirement planning, and cash flow management, as their needs arise.

This position is based out of our FBC Regina location. You will be expected to work onsite as required.

This is a travel‑based role requiring in‑person visits with members at their place of business.

This role requires strong technical expertise in Canadian tax and accounting standards, and a passion for helping both clients and team members succeed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional tax and accounting advice to Members.
  • Review and file complex personal (T1) and corporate (T2) income tax returns.
  • Develop and implement tax planning strategies for a variety of clients, including farm and small business owners.
  • Meet with members in their place of business and maintain strong client relationships as a primary contact for key accounts.
  • Conduct Member reviews.
  • Support seasonal and year‑round reconciliations and filings, including GST / HST, T1, T2, and other applicable tax returns.
  • Foster strong relationships with Members and secure Member referrals.
  • Recognize Member needs and connect them with our other domain experts within the company and network.
What You Bring
Education & Experience
  • Comprehensive experience with at least one full corporate tax cycle; 3+ cycles preferred and considered a strong asset.
  • Advanced knowledge of Canadian tax laws and regulations (T1, T2, T3) is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing client relationships and accounting teams.
  • Proficiency in tax preparation and accounting software such as Taxprep / IFirm, Xero, or Profile.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel.
  • Strong proficiency in corporate tax processes and regulations.
  • Experience with agriculture and/​or preparing tax returns for farms and small businesses is preferred.
