Job summary

Encore Business Solutions is seeking a Senior Solution Development Specialist for Dynamics 365 Business Central on an independent contractor basis. This role focuses on designing and developing modifications to the standard BC application, including coding, unit testing and documentation.

You will collaborate with SMEs to translate client needs into functional specifications and technical design. You will stay current on on-premise and SaaS Dynamics BC offerings, lead and mentor team members,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in CS, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 4 years’ hands-on D365 Business Central (NAV) development experience.
• ERP software experience, preferably MS D365 Business Central.
• Experience with SQL Server, reporting tools, and Power Platform.
• Experience with integration and migration in Dynamics 365 Suite.

The Position

This is an ongoing independent contractor position that supplements full-time staff. Weekly hours will vary based on project needs.

The Senior Solution Development Specialist is responsible for the design and development of modifications to the standard Microsoft D365 Business Central application including coding, unit testing and creating supporting documentation. The Senior Solution Development Specialist is responsible for gaining an understanding of the client’s needs and collaborates with subject matter experts to complete design and testing. Leveraging knowledge and skills from prior experiences, the developer provides technical input to creation of functional specifications when customizations to D365 Business Central are required.

The Senior Developer is required to keep up to date with on-premise and SaaS offerings of Dynamics Business Central to remain current and relevant in the constantly evolving Microsoft Business Central solution. This Senior Developer resource strives to earn the trust and respect of clients through open and honest dialogue, possesses a strong professional work ethic and is relied upon to lead and team members, communicating issues when they arise and troubleshoot problems.

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Work closely with clients to understand their business processes, requirements and key objectives.
• Document detailed design and technical specifications to set the stage for solid delivery.
• Design and develop business solutions within Dynamics Business Central.
• Provide integration development to external systems and provide development support services for the systems we have deployed.
• Adhere to the design and implementation of development best practices
• Demonstrate and enforce high quality standards and professionalism shown by all members of the team.
• Provide scope and estimate effort for modifications of Business Central software as part of an implementation team as well as outside of projects on a case by case basis
• Receive, manage and resolve development support cases and basic consulting support cases
• Deliver Business Central implementations that represent the scope of what was requested and have passed internal testing
• Provide clear expectations around Scope, Effort, and Timeframe both internally and externally.
• Proactively update progress on work both internally and externally
• Proactively identify and action improvements in the process and methodologies used by the team and other practices in the organization
• Handle and resolve escalations from internal and external sources and involve Practice Lead if necessary

Desired Skills & Competencies

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Operations, Engineering, Commerce or equivalent degree/experience.
• Microsoft Technology certifications are an asset.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in development.
• Minimum 4 years’ hands-on Microsoft D365 Business Central (formerly Dynamics NAV) experience; and /or experience with Dynamics Business Central full-life cycle implementation.
• Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications preferably Microsoft D365 Business Central.
• MS SQL Server, Jet Reports, Power Platform (PowerApps, Power Automate, Power BI), Dataverse.
• Working knowledge or interest in learning database systems and hardware environments.
• Solid understanding of cloud computing technologies and emerging computing trends.
• Integration and migration experience with Dynamics 365 Suite.
• Install and support the Business Central software on client sites.
• Proven ability to take initiative and deliver outstanding performance.

Logistical Requirements

• Willing and able to travel; valid passport is required.
• Must be resident of Canada or the United States and legally entitled to work in resident country.
• Must be fluent in English – both verbal and written.
