Job summary

Shippo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our WebApp team, working on new intelligent web application capabilities and a best-in-class user experience for customers. You will collaborate with engineers, product managers and designers to deliver features that meet diverse customer demands while balancing technical quality with user experience.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software development.
• Experience building and maintaining highly available, scalable web applications.
• Proficiency in programming languages and frameworks used in full-stack development on distributed systems (React, Python, Go, Kafka, SQL, NoSQL).
• Strong understanding of software architecture, object-oriented programming, and design patterns.
• Experience with AI assisted development workflow.
• Effective communication with stakeholders across organizations.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills across teams.

Responsibilities

• System Design & Development: Build and maintain the full stack web application features including scalable, distributed microservices.
• Technical Leadership: Own complex features from design to production deployment with high performance and reliability.
• Engineering Excellence: Define and execute technical strategy to enhance core web stack and ensure accuracy for high-throughput traffic.
• Operational Health: Participate in on-call rotations, troubleshoot production incidents, maintain high SLAs.
• Collaboration & Mentorship: Work with cross-functional teams and set high engineering standards.
• Infrastructure: Improve CI/CD pipelines, Docker/Kubernetes deployments, and observability.

How we will deliver success together:

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our WebApp team. Our business is rapidly expanding and we’re developing the new intelligent web application capabilities with the best-in-class user experience for our customers. At the same time, the customer base grew significantly in both diversity and complexity. As a Sr Software Engineer, you will be working together with a group of highly talented engineers and partnering with product managers and designers to deliver features to meet our customers’ demands. • System Design & Development: Build and maintain the full stack web application features including scalable, distributed microservices.
• Technical Leadership: Own complex features from technical design to production deployment adhering to high-performance and reliability standards.
• Engineering Excellence: Owning technical strategy to enhance and support core web application stack, ensuring performance and accuracy for high-throughput traffic.
• Operational Health: Participate in on-call rotations, troubleshoot production incidents, and maintain high SLAs.
• Collaboration & Mentorship: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Infrastructure, Designer, API Partners) and setting high engineering standards.
• Infrastructure: Improve CI/CD pipelines, container-based software distribution (Docker, Kubernetes), and observability.

Your shipping requirements

• Minimum 8+ years of experience in software development
• Experience building and maintaining highly available, scalable web applications
• Proficiency in programming language and frameworks commonly used in full-stack development on distributed systems. (e.g.,React, Python, Go, Kafka, SQL, NoSQL)
• Strong understanding of software architecture, object-oriented programming, and design patterns.
• Experience with AI assisted development workflow.
• Can effectively communicate to stakeholders across different organizations within the company
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
• BSc in a STEM field, with a preference for computer science and software engineering
