Job summary

Robinhood is seeking a Senior Software Developer in Toronto to own backend services for Robinhood Wallet. You will design and deploy scalable systems, mentor peers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, high-performance crypto and tokenized stock trading support.

You will work in a hybrid environment with in-person coordination, contribute to architecture discussions, and drive engineering excellence across the stack.

As a Senior Software Developer, you’ll build and own the backend services, infrastructure, and data systems that support Robinhood Wallet products. You will develop reliable and secure solutions to deliver a high-quality trading experience for cryptocurrencies and tokenized stocks, including perpetual futures, to customers worldwide. In this role, you will take lead responsibility for designing scalable architectures and maintaining high-quality codebases. You will collaborate closely with client engineers, security professionals, and external node providers to deliver high-quality, secure technical integrations. Additionally, you will mentor other engineers and raise our overall engineering standards through design reviews, architecture discussions, and hands‑on technical leadership.

This role is based in our Toronto, ON office, with in‑person attendance expected at least 3 days per week. What you’ll do

What you bring

• 5+ years of experience in software development.
• Expertise in backend development using languages such as Go, Python, or Java, with deep knowledge of cloud‑native architectures.
• Strong grasp of system design, data modeling, and software engineering fundamentals.
• Proven ability to simplify complex problems, make sound tradeoffs, and drive alignment across product, engineering, and design teams.
• Strong sense of personal accountability with a track record of delivering high‑quality, end‑to‑end products and raising team‑wide technical standards.

Bonus points

• Experience working for a DeFi protocol, a crypto wallet company, or another blockchain‑related company.
• Familiarity with technologies like EVM blockchains and smart contracts.
