Job summary

Samsara is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join the Cloud Governance Platform team in Canada. You will design and build core components handling cloud IAM, security controls, compliance enforcement, and software supply-chain protections across AWS and GCP.

You will contribute to governance tooling roadmaps, translate regulatory requirements into automated controls, and collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, Compliance, and Product Engineering teams to deliver scalable

Qualifications

• 4+ years of industry experience in software development.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Strong programming/coding and design fundamentals (Golang, Python or similar).
• Deep hands-on expertise in cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or similar).
• Strong understanding of cloud security, IAM systems, threat models, and mitigations.
• Experience designing and operating highly reliable, scalable distributed systems.
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence without direct authority.

Responsibilities

• Design and build core components of Samsara's Cloud Governance Platform, contributing hands-on to cloud IAM, security controls, compliance enforcement, and software supply-chain security capabilities.
• Contribute to the roadmap for governance and security tooling across AWS and GCP, bringing engineering judgment to prioritization discussions.
• Translate regulatory and compliance requirements into automated, continuously enforced controls through direct implementation.
• Build and maintain software supply-chain security tooling, including SAST, DAST, and secure CI/CD pipeline patterns.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, Compliance, and Product Engineering teams to implement solutions for cross-functional risk and governance problems.
• Share technical knowledge with teammates through code reviews, pairing, and day-to-day collaboration.
• Clearly communicate technical approach, tradeoffs, and risks in design docs and team discussions.
