Job Description

KWESST Inc is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our LC4ISR team. This position will support the Canadian Armed Forces as part of the LC4ISR program for the Department of National Defence (DND). The incumbent will design and implement DND’s ISTAR File Transfer System, SMVP Recording Server, and Sensor C&C specialty applications, focusing on maintaining reliability and scalability of these applications.

Job Responsibilities

• Design, analyse, model and implement software systems.
• Provide software and application integration, analysis, and evaluation support.
• Recommend software‑related system‑level solutions for discrepancies, deficiencies, and changes to equipment and specifications.
• Liaise with software development and application technical groups to ensure system integrity, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Carry out independent investigations and analysis of third‑party software integration.
• Review, analyse, and provide recommendations on software and applications, components and interface documentation.
• Prepare planning and procurement support documentation for software and applications.
• Conduct and/or witness software integration testing and evaluation.
• Support the development and maintenance activities in accordance with SAFe‑Agile model practices.

Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum of 10 years of software development experience.
• Active SECRET security clearance.
• Proficiency in Java and C#.
• Familiarity with FATES, LAV Motion Imagery Service (LMIS) and LCSS Message Integrator (LMSI) is an asset.
• Familiarity with NATO standards and STANAG 4586 is an asset.
• Defence systems project experience on military or military command and control software systems.
• Good problem‑solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or other suitable technical field is required.
