Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced engineer to architect, develop, and maintain a customer-facing threat intelligence platform in Halifax, Canada. You will work across back-end and front-end technologies, collaborating with engineering leadership and product teams to deliver value rapidly.

The role emphasizes data ingestion, processing, and proactive technology evaluation, with a strong focus on Agile practices and customer experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of back-end/API development in languages such as Python, Ruby, Go, PHP.
• 5 years of experience with MySQL/PostgreSQL and SQL/schema design.
• 5+ years of experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, CSS, HTML, browser security model and browser APIs.
• Experience with React for front-end development.
• Experience with ElasticSearch is a plus.
• Creative problem-solving, collaboration, and lifelong learning.
• Passion for agile development and delivering value early and often.
• Strong presentation and communication skills.
• Experience with PHP and Laravel is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain scalable data ingestion and processing systems for reliable, efficient handling of high-volume data
• Partner with engineering leadership and core product engineering teams to build new features and capabilities across data acquisition, data visualization, threat intelligence, and management
• Report to the Engineering Manager

• 5+ years of experience with JavaScript / TypeScript, CSS, HTML, browser security model, and browser APIs
• Experience with React for front-end development
• Experience with ElasticSearch or similar technologies is a plus
• Creative problem-solving ability, collaboration skills, and passion for lifelong learning
• Passion for agile development, iterative improvement, and delivering value early and often
• Strong presentation and communication skills, with ability to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience with PHP and Laravel is a plus
