You’ll be supported through learning and development, not to mention an incredible team with unbelievable talent and integrity.

If you think you would be the right person to join our team working towards this goal, we would love to hear from you!

Your Role

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer in Test (SDET) to own and evolve the automation strategy for AXIOM, our industry-leading digital forensics platform. In this role you'll be a strategic driver of quality, shaping how we scale automation and improve engineering efficiency. If you’re passionate about driving impact, mentoring others, and staying ahead of testing trends, this is your opportunity to shape how we deliver world-class software.

Why Join Us?
  • Impact: Your work will directly influence the reliability and scalability of AXIOM, a product trusted by digital forensics professionals worldwide;
  • Autonomy: We value engineers who take initiative and drive strategy;
  • Growth: Stay at the forefront of testing trends and mentor others;
  • Culture: Collaborative, innovative, and focused on solving big challenges.

Please note: The role will be a hybrid of remote work and in office for candidates in a commutable distance to our Waterloo and Ottawa offices. We have a flexible working arrangement.

What You Will Accomplish:
  • Lead the automation roadmap aligned with product evolution and team goals;
  • Design and implement scalable automation frameworks for desktop applications;
  • Integrate automated testing suites with CI/CD pipelines to accelerate delivery;
  • Collaborate with development teams to improve product quality as well as developer and tester efficiency;
  • Lead the standardization of best practices for automation testing and quality across teams;
  • Act as a technical mentor, supporting individuals and groups across teams;
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to code quality and automation strategy;
  • Stay ahead of testing trends and bring innovative practices into our engineering culture.
What We Are Looking For:

We’re looking for someone who checks off most, but not all, of the boxes listed in “skills and experiences”. It’s more important to us to find candidates who can display indicators of success through skills they have developed and experiences they have been a part of, than to find folks who have ‘been there, done that’. We want to be part of your development journey, and we’ll learn as much from you as you learn from us.

Required Skills:
  • 5+ years in Software Engineer in Test roles;
  • Strong proficiency in object-oriented programming (C#, Python);
  • Experience with test automation tools and frameworks;
  • Solid understanding of software architecture, APIs, SDKs, and system integration testing;
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices;
  • Strong experience in SQL and data validation;
  • Excellent critical-thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills;
  • Comfortable working autonomously, collaborating with others, and owning test strategy.
Nice To Have Skills:
  • Experience with AI-driven testing tools or leveraging AI for automation efficiency;
  • AWS services (EC2, S3, AMI setup);
  • Git and Jenkins experience;
  • Performance testing and optimization;
  • Telerik Test Studio experience;
  • API testing expertise.
The Most Important Thing:
  • We’re looking for candidates that can provide examples of how they have demonstrated Magnet CODE in their previous experiences:
  • CARE – We care about each other and our mission to make a difference in the world.
  • OWN – We are accountable for our results – while never forgetting to act with integrity, empathy, and respect.
  • DEDICATE – We put our heart and soul into meeting the needs of our customers and helping them serve the people they protect.
  • EVOLVE – We are constantly innovating and exploring new ways to work together to make an impact with our work.
