Amazon Development Centre Canada ULC in Vancouver, BC, is hiring a Senior Software Development Engineer to own design and delivery of large, complex systems for AWS AppSync. You will mentor engineers, influence roadmaps, and drive architectural decisions across teams while maintaining high standards for security and reliability.
The role emphasizes ownership, cross-team collaboration, and building scalable services that serve global API traffic with low latency and strong operational excellence.

Are you interested in building and evolving a large-scale distributed system that serves API traffic for applications around the world and stays seamless as traffic scales and infrastructure conditions change?
Do you enjoy working on distributed systems and solving problems of scale, availability, and low latency? Are you interested in building and evolving a large-scale distributed system that serves API traffic for applications around the world and stays seamless as traffic scales and infrastructure conditions change? If so, then come join the AWS AppSync team. AWS AppSync is a fully managed, serverless service for building GraphQL and Pub/Sub APIs that securely connect applications to data and events at scale. Developers use AppSync to bring together data from sources like Amazon DynamoDB, AWS Lambda, and HTTP endpoints behind a single API endpoint, and to deliver real-time updates to connected clients through managed WebSocket subscriptions, without having to build and operate the underlying API infrastructure themselves. We're looking for a senior engineer who can own the design and delivery of large, complex systems and raise the technical bar across the team. As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you'll drive the architecture and technical direction for significant parts of AWS AppSync, take on ambiguous problems that span multiple teams, and set best practices in design, operational excellence, and security. You'll mentor other engineers and multiply their impact, influence the roadmap alongside product and engineering leaders, and continuously identify areas of growth within the existing frameworks, tools and processes to develop further technical mechanisms that reduce waste and continuously improve. You'll collaborate with engineers throughout the company who are building the next big thing in cloud computing. We need our senior engineers to be versatile, display strong ownership and judgment, and be enthusiastic to dive deep on hard problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.
