Job summary

RBC Capital Markets is seeking a senior software developer to join the Funding and Liquidity Technology team within QTS. You will design and deliver scalable Java microservices, modernizing data processing pipelines and reporting capabilities for the Funding and Asset Liability reporting functions.

The role requires leadership, strong Java expertise, Spring Boot, and experience with Docker/Kubernetes in cloud-ready architectures.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related technical field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in Java and microservices with software design/architecture.
• Strong knowledge of Spring Boot, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, threading and concurrency.
• Proficiency with SQL, Maven, Unix and CI/CD tools.
• Experience developing distributed cloud-ready applications (Docker/Kubernetes/Containerization).

Responsibilities

• Implement software for Funding initiatives and integrate with data processing pipelines.
• Conduct data analysis and schema design for Funding and Liquidity modernization apps.
• Code, test, debug, and support batch and real-time Funding and Asset Liability Reporting.
• Analyze production issues related to data flows, performance, latency, and infrastructure.
• Support deployment, incidents, and on-call duties; rotate responsibilities as needed.
• Mentor junior staff and provide architecture guidance for ongoing work.
• Communicate effectively with RBC partners across Canada and globally.

What will you do?

• As a senior software developer, you will work with the team to implement software for Funding initiatives and integrate with generic data processing pipeline
• Carry out data analysis & schema designs for Funding and Liquidity modernization applications
• Code, test, debug, implement and support a strategic end of day batch and realtime Funding and Asset Liability Reporting
• Analyze, debug and resolve production issues related including but not limited to data flows, application performance, system latency and infrastructure and network products
• Support application deployment, production incidents, and issues on a rotational basis as an application developer/owner, with potential for limited out-of-hours work and on-call availability
• Be a mentor for junior members and technical leader by providing architecture guidance for all ongoing and upcoming books of works
• Be deadline-driven and results-oriented; able to meet consistently high-quality standards while handling a variety of tasks and deadlines simultaneously
• In this role, you will communicate and interact frequently with RBC partners and/or employees located across Canada and/or worldwide

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

• B.S or M.S Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related technical field
• 5+ years of professional experience in Java and microservices along with software design and architecture
• Excellent knowledge of Spring Boot, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, threading & concurrency
• Excellent knowledge of SQL, Maven, Unix & other CI/CD development tools
• Knowledge of developing distributed cloud ready applications (Docker/Kubernetes/Containerization)
