Overview

Lightspeed\'s Services organization focuses on providing foundational services that support core offerings across the Lightspeed product portfolio, including Golf merchants, Financial Services (Payments, Capital), Scheduling Services, and Technical Services (Auth, Merchant Data).

We are looking to hire Senior Software Developers and Intermediate Software Developers who will work on the Development team within Services. You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of various features within the products your team owns. You will contribute to the overall codebase for new features or bug resolution, help improve the architecture and participate in related activities. As a Senior Engineer, you are expected to bring strong technical expertise, help the team achieve goals, and evolve the team\'s processes and tooling. You will participate in production operations, including on-call rotations.

Most importantly, you\'ll work with experts within a growing department providing foundational services to various Lightspeed products that are critical to the company\'s success. Note that we are hiring for multiple positions across different teams within Services at Lightspeed.

What you\'ll be responsible for
  • Deliver on sprint commitments through the development of features and bug fixes across various services.
  • Participate in development planning, retrospectives, and demos.
  • Decompose high-level requirements into development tasks and work items for delegation.
  • Keep the team informed regarding expectations, priorities, release status and project schedules.
  • Lead effort estimation for sprint and product roadmap deliverables.
  • Initiate and contribute to continuous improvement of software delivery processes and practices.
  • Identify and encourage areas for growth, education and career development for your team.
  • Participate in finding top talent for your team and the organization.
  • Provide technical and process guidance to your team.
  • Participate in code reviews to teach and enforce high standards of code quality.
  • Support the tools and products that the team delivers.
What you\’ll be bringing to the team
  • Strong software engineering and computer science fundamentals.
  • Strong programming skills in either TypeScript, Go, Java, Node.js, Ruby or Rails or C#.
  • Our current tech stack is Ruby, Go, TypeScript, Java; the actual language used depends on the team you join or your area of interest.
  • Experience developing scalable, reliable applications on the cloud (we use AWS/GCP).
  • Experience with distributed systems architectures such as event-driven services.
  • Experience leading initiatives and feature work from design to production deployment.
  • Strong sense of ownership and self-improvement, with a growth mindset.
