Job summary

Bally is seeking a Senior Software Developer to own automation and integration initiatives in a hybrid Toronto role. You will shape architectural standards, partner with business teams, and deliver AWS-based automation services using Node.js and Python.

Responsibilities include designing scalable solutions, collaborating with DevOps, ensuring security and compliance, and mentoring engineers to raise technical quality across the portfolio.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of software engineering experience delivering production systems.
  • Proven experience building automation, workflows, and system integrations end to end.
  • Experience in Casino Gaming, Online Gaming, Sports Betting, or another regulated industry is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, working directly with business and non-technical teams.
  • Hands-on expertise in Node.js and/or Python, APIs, and event-driven architecture.
  • AWS experience, including Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, SQS/SNS, S3, API Gateway, and IAM.
  • System design skills with a focus on scalability, reliability, and failure handling.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and third-party integrations.
  • Excellent understanding of data, observability, security, privacy, and PII.
  • Familiarity with workflow orchestration and AI/LLM-powered automation is a plus.

  • Create solution designs covering architecture, data flows, failure and retry strategies, and rollback plans.
  • Partner with DevOps on deployment, infrastructure as code, environments, secrets, cost control, and production readiness.
  • Champion engineering standards across code quality, testing, observability, error handling, and documentation.
  • Build monitoring and alerting from day one and lead incident response and root cause analysis.
  • Lead and mentor engineers, reviewing designs, removing blockers, and raising the technical bar.
  • Ensure solutions meet security, privacy, audit, and compliance requirements, including PII handling and access control.
  • Maintain runbooks and handover documentation.

Description

This role is a current vacancy , and we are actively seeking a candidate to join the team.

Qualifications
Experience
