Job summary

Plusgrade Travel is seeking a Senior Software Developer in Montreal to own the backend layer powering AI-driven pricing and fulfillment. You will split time between delivering production-ready features and exploring innovative AI concepts in our Labs group, shaping how AI integrates into our operating model and infrastructure.

You will collaborate with cross-functional partners to turn ambitious ideas into scalable, high-performance systems in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• Strong Java backend skills in cloud environments.
• Experience leading architecture discussions and technical decisions.
• Ability to deliver production-ready features in an Agile environment.
• Solid CS fundamentals and familiarity with testing pyramids.

Job Description: Senior Software Developer

You want to shape how artificial intelligence personalizes travel offers for millions of passengers while spending half your time experimenting with cutting-edge proofs of concept.

What You'll Be Doing

Based in our Montreal office as part of the AI & Merchandising team, you will own the backend application layer that powers our AI-driven pricing and fulfillment products. Your time will be split evenly between shipping production-ready, revenue-generating features and experimenting inside our AI Labs group on new concepts. As part of this work, you help re-engineer software delivery so that AI systems and workflows are integrated directly into our operating model and infrastructure. You will partner with product managers, designers, and engineers to turn ambitious ideas into scalable, high-performance systems.

What You Bring

You build and deploy clean, testable Java code in cloud environments while taking the lead on architecture discussions and technical decisions. You have structurally changed how your team works around AI by setting shared standards and systems that enable those around you to ship faster without sacrificing quality or safety. You bring deep computer science fundamentals, from data structures to distributed systems, paired with a disciplined approach to the testing pyramid and delivery pipelines. You communicate complex technical ideas with clarity, making them accessible to designers, support teams, and fellow developers alike. You thrive in an Agile environment where you take end-to-end ownership of outcomes, moving quickly without waiting for hand-holding.
