Fortinet in Canada is seeking a proactive full-stack engineer to help build FortiClient EMS and FortiClient Cloud. You will own features end-to-end across front and back ends in a fast-moving team.

You will design microservices, optimize performance, and collaborate across Linux, networking, and cloud deployment with Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm. The role emphasizes ownership, architecture thinking, and delivering complete, high-quality code with strong initiative.

Competenze

• Experience with Python, Go and modern frontend frameworks.
• Production experience with Django, FastAPI or Flask.

• RESTful APIs design and relational databases (PostgreSQL, MS SQL).

Key Responsibilities

• EMS & Cloud Feature Development: Develop core features on FortiClient EMS that adopt practices adhering to industry standards, while contributing to full-stack web development across both frontend and backend tasks.
• Project Leadership: Design and lead individual projects, taking full technical ownership and driving them to successful completion.
• Microservices & Infrastructure: Write and manage microservices architecture to enhance system performance, scalability, and cloud deployment efficiency.
• Proactive System Optimization: Look beyond immediate task requirements to continuously identify and resolve system bottlenecks, optimize database schemas (PostgreSQL/MS SQL), and streamline containerized environments (Kubernetes/Docker/Helm).
• Team Elevation: Step outside your core domain when needed—whether that means unblocking a peer, refining CI/CD pipelines, or improving system reliability across Linux and networking layers.

Candidate Profile & Core Qualifications

• High Initiative & Ownership: A proven track record of taking initiative beyond assigned tasks, driving projects past the finish line, and solving unassigned system flaws.
• Full-Stack & Microservices Mastery: Strong production experience with Python, Golang, and Angular (or equivalent modern frameworks).
• Backend Frameworks: Hands-on experience with Django, FastAPI, or Flask.
• Containers & Orchestration: Production experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm.
• Databases & APIs: Solid experience designing RESTful APIs and optimizing relational databases (PostgreSQL, MS SQL).
• Linux & Networking: Strong Linux troubleshooting skills across system, network, and web server layers (e.g., NGINX, TLS, proxies).

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with NGINX (reverse proxies, load balancing, TLS termination, or rate limiting).
• Familiarity with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Background in network topology, web application firewall (WAF) configurations, or enterprise security products.

The Canada base salary range for this full-time position is expected to be between $122,000- $150,000 annually. Wage ranges are based on various factors including the labour market, job type, and job level. Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate’s subject knowledge, skill level, qualifications, and experience.
