Senior Site Reliability Engineer

About the Role

As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) at Aequilibrium, you will be embedded within agile scrum teams supporting large-scale digital modernization initiatives for Canadian public‑sector partners. You will play a leading role in designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing cloud‑native infrastructure and operational automation across Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and OpenShift Private Cloud environments.

This role requires deep technical expertise in infrastructure‑as‑code, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring and observability, incident response, and container orchestration. You will support high availability, scalability, compliance, and operational excellence across mission‑critical digital services—while coaching team members, improving reliability practices, and influencing engineering culture.

Qualifications & Requirements

Must-Have

• 5+ years of professional experience as an SRE, DevOps Engineer, Platform Engineer, or Cloud Infrastructure Engineer.
• Advanced experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and OpenShift Private Cloud.
• Hands‑on expertise with Kubernetes (GKE), OpenShift, and container orchestration.
• Strong experience with IaC tools such as Terraform or GCP Deployment Manager.
• Proficiency in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or OpenShift Pipelines.
• Deep knowledge of monitoring and logging systems (Prometheus, Grafana, Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, PagerDuty).
• Experience developing automation scripts and operational tooling.
• Solid understanding of cloud security best practices, compliance requirements, and vulnerability scanning.
• Strong ability to lead post‑incident reviews and implement systematic improvements.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills within cross‑functional teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience with BC Gov OpenShift Private Cloud environments.
• Experience with Apache Solr in a containerized environment.
• Familiarity with Scrum@Scale or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
• Experience working in public‑sector, enterprise, or highly regulated environments.
• Scripting experience (e.g., Python, Bash, Go).
• Infrastructure cost optimization experience.
