Job summary

Scotiabank is seeking an Associate Director, Business Risk Management in Toronto, ON. The role focuses on first-line supervision of non-financial risks within Global Banking and Markets, coordinating with GBM and control functions to ensure effective risk management and regulatory compliance.

It requires 3–5 years in business risk management, knowledge of GBM businesses, and strong experience with risk controls. The position is onsite with a four-day in-office expectation.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of related business risk management experience.
• Understanding of GBM lines and regulatory matters in Canada.
• Ability to resolve issues and escalate with SME input when needed.
• Strong analytical and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Execute first-line supervision and oversight per regulatory expectations.
• Support Written Supervisory Procedures to evidencing ongoing supervision.
• Provide advisory support and training to promote a strong supervision culture.
• Maintain alignment with global control frameworks while ensuring local compliance.
• Lead risk assessments and deep-dive analyses of incidents to identify root causes.
• Help remediate issues and ensure sustainable closure across three lines of defense.
• Support CRCAs, RCSAs, and Scenario Analysis programs.
