Job summary

Aon is seeking a Senior Risk Control Consultant – Mining to join our AGRC team in Canada. You will partner with clients to identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks within mining operations, delivering practical risk control solutions that support safer, more resilient business outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have an engineering background, 5–10 years in natural resources mining, familiarity with NFPA standards and FM Data Sheets, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent experience is required.
• 5-10 years experience as an Engineer within the natural resources sector, with an emphasis on mining.
• Familiarity with NFPA standards and/or FM Data Sheets related to fire protection.
• Strong verbal and written technical communication (English).
• Good interpersonal abilities and understanding of data analytics fundamentals.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license and a clean driver's abstract.

Responsibilities

• Conduct facility risk control surveys.
• Develop client loss estimates on site-specific and portfolio basis to assist with insurance program builds.
• Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments at client sites.
• Developing and delivering hazard awareness.
• Preparing insurance underwriting information reports.
• Evaluating and responding to insurance company recommendations.
• Foster and maintain a collaborative team culture within Risk Control.

Aon is hiring a Senior Risk Control Consultant – Mining to join our AGRC team, where you'll partner with clients to identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks while driving safer and more resilient business outcomes.

What The Day Will Look Like

• Conducting facility risk control surveys

Risk Control involves the methodical identification, evaluation, and mitigation of various risk factors (Fire, natural hazard, liability, etc.) to reduce an organization's potential to loss and improve the overall cost of risk. Risk Control Consultants interact with clients, contractors, regulatory authorities and engineers on risk control matters.

Skills And Experience That Will Lead To Success

• A strong technical background is required – preferably an engineering degree or equivalent experience. Lesser or alternative academic qualifications may be acceptable when combined with proven experience
• 5 -10 years experience as an Engineer within the natural resources sector, with an emphasis on mining
• Familiarity with NFPA standards and/or FM Data Sheets related to fire protection
• Strong verbal and written technical communication (English)
• Good interpersonal abilities
• Sound understanding in digitalization and data and analytic fundamentals
• A collaborative teammate who can also work independently
• Ability to analyze technical problems incisively and deliver efficient solutions is a key skill requirement
• Valid Class 5 driver's license and a clean driver's abstract are required
