Job summary

Myticas Consulting seeks a Senior RF Test Engineer to develop and maintain verification plans for a satellite communication system. You will work with vendors on test plans, results, and integrations while maintaining the lab environment.

You will lead OTA test planning, verification activities, and lab campaigns, apply RF engineering principles, and collaborate across teams to ensure the system meets performance requirements. Strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical, Computer, or System Engineering with 20+ years in satellite communications.
• 10+ years in different antenna types (Ka band preferred) and satellite RF systems.
• Hands-on RF test equipment experience: oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, satellite channel emulator.
• Familiar with air interfaces, mod/demod, and link budget analyses.

Responsibilities

• Issue recommendations influencing system verification and validation.
• Collaborate with antenna vendors to support SOW, SRR, test plans, results, and RVTM reviews; integrate antenna with other components.
• Develop internal test plans and verification methods with other segments.
• Support OTA test planning and automation processes.
• Support system acceptance planning for LEOP and IOT.
• Create system and subsystem verification matrices against requirements.
• Coordinate RF and system-level testing activities and reporting.
• Serve as RF expert and assist staff as needed.
• Contribute to component and subsystem design and test activities.
• Configure test equipment like satellite link emulators, signal generators, spectrum analyzers.
• Ensure PT meets technical, functional, performance and business requirements.
• Keep lab updated with known hardware/software configurations.

Job description

The Senior RF Test Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining system verification and validation plans of the communication system. In addition, they will participate in the various testing activities across systems with vendors and other partners and responsible for maintaining the lab.

Main Responsibilities

• In this role, the incumbent will issue recommendations and have influence on the system verification and validation.
• Work with various Antenna Vendors to support the SOW, SRR, Test Requirements, Test Plans, Test Results and RVTM reviews, in addition to follow up on the integrate of the Antenna with the other components (Modem, and other interfaces).
• Work with the other segments to support the development of the internal Test Plans and verification methods.
• Support Over The Air (OTA) Test Planning and activities including the Test automation processes.
• Support System Acceptance Planning activities for the LEOP and IOT.
• Develop system and sub system verification matrices against system requirements
• Coordinate and participate in RF and system level testing activities including test planning, execution and reporting
• Serve as an RF expert and support other technical staff as required
• Plays an active role in component and subsystem design and test activities
• Configuring test equipment like Satellite Link Emulators, signal generator, spectrum analyzer etc.
• Ensure product under test meets technical, functional, performance and business requirements
• Keep the lab functional and update to date with known hardware and software configuration to execute various test scenarios as necessary
• Work with partners and other vendors in various test campaigns

Education & Experience Required

• B. S or M.S.in Electrical, Computer or System Engineering and a minimum of 20 years of relevant experience in satellite communications
• 10+ years of work experience in different antenna types like Flat Panel Antenna, Parabolic and Aero Antenna (Ka band preferable)
• 10+ years of work experience in Satellite RF communication systems with strong exposure on modulation and coding used in modern standards like DVB-S2(X) and DVB-RCS2
• Hands on experience using RF test equipment (Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, Spectrum Analyzers, satellite channel emulator)
• Strong understanding of RF engineering Principles and Design Practices
• Demonstrated understanding of air interfaces, modem technologies, modulation and coding and its impact on the satellite link performance
• Experience with satellite link budget analyses with good understanding of effects of impairments on the link performance
• Experience in test case and defect tracking tools (Jira, Jama)
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effective with management, engineering teams and partners / suppliers

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with different Ka band antenna vendors
• Experience with Flat Panel Antenna and Aero Antenna (Ka band preferable)
• Experience with BUC/LNB and various Antenna technologies
• Experience in Planning activities for the LEOP and IOT.
• Proficient with MATLAB, python.
• Highly collaborative team player who can quickly earn the confidence of co-workers and teammates
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Salary Range - $95,000 - $135,000 ,
