Job summary

Total North Communications Ltd. in Whitehorse, Yukon, seeks a Senior Radio Technician to program, install, test, troubleshoot and repair radio and satellite systems on-site with customers and at the shop.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in RF, electronics or wireless tech, plus certification assets. You will install Motorola/ICOM/Zetron gear, perform RF tests, assist in network wiring and mentoring junior staff, with travel possible.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with RF systems.
• Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology or Wireless Systems Engineering Technology, or a Certificate as a Communication Technician.
• Certifications such as ETA-I, MECP, CET are assets.
• Strong experience with duplexers, combiners, and antenna sweeping.
• Experience with P25, Conventional, and Trunking systems is a plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication; ability to train others.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and tune antenna multi-coupler systems, duplexers, and transmit combiners.
• RF Testing of transceivers by means of watt meter, multimeter, antenna diagnostics, DTF, basic service monitor use, modulation, channel bandwidths and signal levels.
• Network cable testing, duplex operation, spectrum analysis, use of return loss bridge.
• Read and understand engineering drawings and documents.
• Install, maintain, program, diagnose, and repair Motorola, ICOM and Zetron conventional and trunking mobile and portable radio systems and equipment.
• Install and maintain various types of satellite systems.
• BDA installing and troubleshooting.
• Advanced Trunking ( Motorola Capacity Plus, Connect Plus, Capacity Max, SmartNet etc.)
• R56 Grounding.
• Dispatch Consoles (Wired and IP)
• Other duties as assigned
