Job Description

TD Canada Trust is TD's customer‑focused personal and small business banking business. Serving more than 11 million customers nationally, TD Canada Trust provides a full range of financial products and services through its branch banking network, telephone, internet banking, and 'TD Green Machine' automated banking machines. The Specialized Sales Forces within TD Canada Trust develop new personal lending business opportunities, generate sales, and deliver high‑quality advice through several channels across Canada. One of the most important and growing contributors to the Mortgage Acquisition business is the Broker Channel, a growing RESL distribution group that offers a range of mortgage financing products and solutions. The Broker Channel drives RESL acquisitions through 3rd‑party industry partners, obtaining mortgage business volume nationally from independent brokerage firms and their respective brokers. All sales are generated by both in‑field Regional Sales Managers and the centralized Inside Sales Managers. This team, along with TD Mortgage Solutions and its 3rd‑party credit adjudicator, collectively originates over $20 billion in annual RESL originations.

Reporting directly to the AVP, National Distribution, Broker Services, the Senior Regional Manager will oversee a group of direct and indirect reports. Under your strong leadership skills, your business development team will target high‑performing brokerages and their brokers to influence referrals of mortgage business and strong client relationships to TD Canada Trust. Your objective will be to achieve business plan targets for mortgage volume, senior relationship development/management, Credit Protection penetration, recruitment/business continuity, pipeline efficiency and budgetary management. You will prospect new business opportunities, at a senior level, within your region and liaise with our major industry partners to further optimise referral relationships.

In addition to being a contributing member of the Broker Channel senior management team, you will be proactive in working with our 3rd‑party underwriting partners (TDMS), as well as key members of the RESL Product, Acquisitions, Pricing, Policy, Fraud and Governance.

You and your teams will work from a sales management system that has been designed specifically for our sales channel. Key accountabilities for the Senior Regional Manager role include recruitment and selection of suitable candidates for the RSM, ISM and BCA jobs, building and maintaining key referral relationships in the market, new business development, sales training, joint field work and focus coaching of sales management staff. You will also be asked to contribute to the development and implementation of national initiatives for the Broker Business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive regional RESL volumes and CP sales through execution of sales management practices, coaching, R&R, recruitment and external business development.
  • Execute key national and regional strategies through effective coaching, communications, change management and sales management.
  • Recruit and hire top talent to build the RSM / ISM teams.
  • Develop strong external partnerships at the broker and brokerage leadership levels, as well as with industry partners (e.g., AMCs, Title Insurers, Mortgage Insurers).
  • Partner with TDMS (FN) to drive value and develop serviced markets.
  • Provide ongoing performance and development coaching to RSMs / ISMs on sales management, business development, budgets, credit quality and efficiency ratios.
  • Develop key brokerage‑level partnerships with Broker Owners and Brokers of Record in your geography and hold these accountable to business objectives set at the beginning of each year.
  • Act as an industry and market expert, by understanding and communicating to internal partners issues as they relate to market pressures, regulatory environment, competitive dynamics, pricing requirements, product / policy changes and risk.
  • Be the face of RESL in your market by being visible and active community leader, connecting with important brokers and brokerages, bank executives, bank partners.
  • Execute talent strategies that build future leaders, increase advice and specialization capabilities for complex customer needs, develop a pipeline of talent for other areas of the bank, attract top talent from OFI.
  • Ensure succession plans are in place for the business development teams.

  • Undergraduate degree is required; Post‑Graduate degree is an asset.
