Job summary

Qualifications

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Post-secondary program in Business Administration, Recreation and Leisure studies or related field an asset.
• 1 year of administrative experience.
• Experience in working with seniors an asset.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to details.
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment.
• Good problem-solving skills and time management skills.
• Intermediate computer skills and working experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point; Cantonese and English proficiency; Mandarin an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality leisure and recreational programs to residents.
• Assist in development of quality leisure and recreation programs that suit residents’ abilities, strengths and interests.
• Organize, facilitate and participate in activities and games to meet residents’ social and psychological needs.
• Implement and lead morning exercises and afternoon programs and activities.
• Develop weekly program schedule with varied activities for residents.
• Perform daily setup of newspaper stands and room setup for games and activities.
• Plan and decorate facility for special events and holidays; take down decorations.
• Assist in development and implementation of music and art programs.
• Seek appropriate musical groups/performers from the community to enhance residents’ leisure life.
• Assist residents walking with mobility aids to enhance mobility strength.
• Work one-on-one or small group with residents on activities; escort residents to group activities.
• Supervise volunteers when implementing activities.
• Ensure accurate documentation of recreation and leisure services for residents.
• Produce monthly newsletters to be distributed to family members regarding programs and activities.
