A financial technology company located in Toronto is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist to contribute to the development and testing of financial applications. The ideal candidate has over 5 years of experience in QA for financial systems, particularly with Canadian wealth management. This hybrid position requires strong communication skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues effectively.

• Contribute to design, development, testing and operations in QA/Testing for Financial Securities Industry applications on mainframe and UNIX (AIX) platforms. • Document and execute test cases, troubleshoot problems, and independently investigate root causes of errors. • Review and analyze application requirements and design specifications to develop test strategies, create effective test plans and test cases. • Provide test effort estimates and validation schedules while adhering to SDLC test methodology and practices. • Participate in requirements and design reviews, and delivery planning sessions with project teams during software releases. • Design and execute test cases using tools (as required), capture and analyze test results. • Create logs, track and document test progress, capture defect metrics and open problem records using defect management tools. • Report defects and errors to management, development, and business teams. • Confirm code under test meets business requirements and defined test exit criteria. • Troubleshoot issues and participate in defect root cause analysis and resolution sessions with delivery teams. • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle. • Apply functional, integration and regression testing approaches for financial systems.
Overall 5+ years of experience as QA/ Tester of software applications for Financial Securities Industry on mainframe and UNIX (AIX) platforms
Minimum of 3 years of experience in Canadian wealth management, Client accounts, Registered Plan accounts like – RRSP, RESP, RRIF, RESP, QESI, FHSA.
Experience in performing transactions on registered Plan accounts like Deposits, deductions, withdrawals
Working experience in the Financial Industry sector with functional testing for banking and/ or wealth management applications such as order management systems, trade processing, order entry and order processing applications, corporate actions/entitlements systems, TAX, custom statements.
Experience with functional, integration, regression testing approach for financial systems
Previous experience testing applications on mainframe platforms - online CICS screens testing, batch testing using JCL and different tools in mainframe z/OS environment like TSO, ISPF, writing SQL queries for database validation
Experience working with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle
Hands on experience to document and execute test cases, troubleshoot problems, and independently start investigation into root cause of errors
Good communication, presentation, and analytical skills
Hands on experience with defect management process and test techniques: black box, white box, smoke, automated testing
Review and analyze application requirements and design specifications to develop test strategies, create effective test plans, test cases
Provide test effort estimates and validation schedules while adhering to SDLC test methodology and practices
Participate in requirements and design reviews, and delivery planning sessions, with project teams during software releases, project solution definition and delivery phases
Document Test Plans, Test Strategies and Test Cases for projects and/or software release test assignments
Design and execute test cases using tools (as required), capture, and analyze test results
Create logs, track, and document test progress, capture defect metrics and open problem records using defect management tools while adhering to Test Services Quality Control process and procedures
Report defects and errors to management, development, and business teams
Confirm code under test meets business requirements and defined test exit criteria
Troubleshoot issues, participate in defect root cause analysis and resolution sessions with delivery teams
