Job summary

Smoking Gun Interactive Inc. in Vancouver, BC seeks a Senior QA Tester to join the on-site team. You will test game content, verify features against design specs, and help drive quality across PC and mobile titles.

You have 3+ years in game QA, strong communication, and experience with test plans and defect tracking. This role requires local BC residency and work authorization.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of QA testing in the game industry or related field.
• Experience testing PC (Windows) and Mobile games.
• Strong ability to write and follow test plans and documentation.
• Familiarity with defect tracking/test management tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Test game content for bugs and visual flaws throughout development.
• Verify features align with design specifications across platforms.
• Maintain a reporting system to track fixes during the test cycle.
• Design, write, and execute test cases across all development phases.
• Provide written and verbal bug status, performance, and playability reports.
• Escalate risks and blocking issues promptly as they arise.
• Assist with build verification on various devices and mobile platforms.
• Be the voice of the consumer in QA communications.

Job Purpose

As a Senior QA Tester at Smoking Gun Interactive (SGI) you most have prior QA experience in video games, mobile testing, or a related field. You boast a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a passion for games. The QA test team is embedded within our development team so you naturally work well with others, are a stellar communicator, and understand the functions of the different disciplines on a game team.

In this role, you will:

• Be responsible for testing game content for bugs and other flaws;
• Verify proper implementation of features against design specifications;
• Work with the QA Test Lead to maintain a reporting system that tracks and verifies fixes throughout the test cycle;
• Design, write, and execute test cases during all phases of product development;
• Provide written and verbal reports on the state of bugs, features, performance, and playability;
• Escalate risks and blocking issues as soon as they are uncovered;
• Help to run build verification checklists against a range of devices and mobile platforms;
• Be the voice of the consumer.

To be successful in this role, you must have:

• 3+ years of experience of QA testing in the game industry;
• Experience testing for PC (Windows) and Mobile games;
• Strong experience with documentation and process in writing test plans;
• Experience in one or more defect tracking and/or test management tool;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills;
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).

It would also be helpful if you had:

• Experience with Jira.

Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000 CAD

NB: This position is based on-site in our Downtown Vancouver office. We are unable to offer remote or hybrid working for this role. Candidates must also be local to the BC area and be eligible to work in Canada.
