Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic QA Engineer specializing in web and Native Mobile Applications Testing to join our innovative and fast-paced organization. As a Sr QA Engineer, you will work with a team of talented QA engineers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality Web and mobile applications through comprehensive testing and quality assurance practices. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • End-to-end testing for Web and Native mobile applications, including test planning, test case development, test execution, and defect management.
  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Assess UAT projects to determine the risk of releasing the code into the current test environment, including impact to multiple projects, overlap in applications and code, within tight timeframes.
  • Prepare User Acceptance Testing (UAT) test plans; test documentation (test functions, test cases, scripts) based on risk analysis to ensure optimal use of testing time while adhering to UAT policies, standards and procedures.
  • Collaborate with project teams during the software development life cycle to ensure business and technical requirements are fulfilled; contribute recommendations and assessments to ongoing project reviews.
  • Develop application and process expertise within UAT and provide hands-on training on systems, hardware, environment, product, standards, and methodology to other analysts as required.
  • Maintain a thorough and current understanding of a broad range of banking applications, UAT code configuration, system integration, environment resources and code delivery processes; provide technical advice to development teams and external suppliers on integration of specific applications within the UAT environment.
  • Develop and execute test automation scripts, analyze test logs and validate results; make simple changes to automated test cases as needed.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Contribute to effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct and Global Sales Principles, ensuring adequacy and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations related to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required.
  • 6+ years of work experience, preferably in a Banking environment, with proficiency in testing Web and Native mobile apps (Android and iOS).
  • 5+ years hands-on experience with automation testing frameworks and tools (Playwright for web and Appium).
  • Good knowledge of web and mobile application testing methodologies, tools, and frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience working with Xcode/Android Studio.
  • 2+ years of most recent project experience with Charles Proxy and Postman.
  • 2+ years native accessibility testing using VoiceOver & TalkBack (all mobile testers run accessibility testing and work with a team of developers).
  • Experience in accessibility testing and familiarity with JAWS, color contrast analyzer.
  • Experience with accessibility testing methodologies, tools, techniques, and assistive technologies to ensure accessible content test in accordance with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and WCAG 2.0/2.1.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong knowledge of SDLC – Waterfall and Agile; experience in both environments in QA roles.
  • Hands-on experience with JIRA, Confluence and HP ALM.
  • Excellent communication skills to address project-related issues and conflicts within the quality assurance testing cycle.
  • Ability to integrate AI tools into the testing workflow to support intelligent test case generation, defect prediction, and visual validation.
