Job summary

S I Systems is seeking a Senior Python/SQL Engineer (10+ years) to lead the migration of Risk Division applications and reporting assets to Snowflake on Azure Cloud. The role involves reconciling data workflows, repointing dashboards, and validating migrated assets across Risk teams, with close stakeholder collaboration.

The 6-month contract is based in Toronto with EST working hours. Strong Oracle, Python, SQL, and C# skills are required, along with experience in data engineering and analytics.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software development, database development, or data engineering experience.
• Hands-on development with Python, SQL, and C#.
• Experience with Oracle databases including Oracle SQL, stored procedures, and database-driven applications.
• Snowflake SQL development, connectivity, query optimization, and migration from legacy databases.
• Undergraduate or graduate degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Repoint Risk Division applications, processes, and reporting assets from Oracle/SQL to Snowflake.
• Analyze and update Python, C#, and Julia applications dependent on Oracle tables and stored procedures.
• Convert Oracle SQL and stored procedure logic to Snowflake-based workflows.
• Support migration of Power BI dashboards and reports from Oracle-based sources to Snowflake.
• Validate migrated applications, reports, and processes through testing, reconciliation, and performance tuning.
• Document migration approaches, changes, testing results, issues, and handover procedures.
• Communicate progress, risks, dependencies, and blockers with Risk and Technology stakeholders.

Our public sector client is seeking a Senior Python/SQL Engineer (10+ years) to support the migration of Risk Division applications and reporting assets using Snowflake and Azure Cloud

Join a migration initiative focused on transitioning business-critical risk applications, dashboards, and data dependencies from Oracle-based solutions to Snowflake and Azure Cloud platforms. This role supports application repointing, SQL conversion, dashboard migration, and testing activities across multiple Risk teams. The position works closely with Risk and Technology stakeholders to ensure continuity of reporting processes and data workflows during migration activities.

6 month Contract, Toronto, Working Hours: EST

Must Haves

• 10+ years of Software Development, database development, or data engineering experience
• Hands-on development with Python, SQL, and C#
• Oracle databases including Oracle SQL, stored procedures, and database-driven applications
• Snowflake SQL development, connectivity, query optimization, and migration from legacy databases
