Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer in Hamilton leads the design and development of an AI-enabled research platform for a university research group. The role involves turning research ideas into scalable software, with a multidisciplinary team of students/PhDs.
You will own architecture, implement modern web apps, and prepare capabilities for AI-powered features over several years. This is a full-time position with onsite work two days a week.
Summary: This is a Lead Developer role, with a university research group, working on a new product – design platform for Power Engineering/Generation that will incorporate AI and use API’s to integrate different systems. Team is 15 people, students / PhD’s. They will be adding more as they grow. This project should take a few years, but this is a FT role.

We are seeking a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to lead the design and development of an AI-enabled research platform from concept through production deployment. You will work directly with a multidisciplinary research team to translate research ideas into a scalable, secure, and production-quality software platform. This role requires technical leadership, hands‑on software development, and the ability to make sound architectural decisions while preparing the platform for future AI-powered capabilities such as prediction, recommendation, optimization, and intelligent decision support.
You are an experienced software engineer who enjoys building products from the ground up. You take ownership, solve complex technical problems, communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and deliver high-quality software that can evolve as research needs grow.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience developing Agentic AI applications, including multi-agent systems, AI-driven workflow automation, autonomous decision-making, and orchestration frameworks. Experience integrating LLMs(Large language models) with external tools, APIs, retrieval systems (RAG), and enterprise software to build end-to-end AI solutions is highly desirable.
