Qualifications

A Snapshot of Your Day

The Siemens Energy Grid Solutions Engineering department comprises of professionals with experience in Primary, Secondary and Civil Engineering for detailed Engineering, Procurement and Construction Projects for FACTS (SVC, FSC, HVDC), Substations (Air Insulated Substations and Gas Insulated Switchgear substations), Grid Access and electrification projects. As part of the engineering team, you will work collaboratively throughout the life-cycle of a project to prepare and review detailed engineering documentation for bidding, procurement, design, construction and commissioning.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Preparing, reviewing, and modifying engineering documentation and drawings, including wiring diagrams, bill of materials and cable lists for Substation and FACTS projects
  • Prepare Preliminary Power Single Line Diagrams, Aux Power Single Line diagrams and Protection One-line diagrams.
  • Preparing, reviewing, and modifying Schematic Diagrams, wiring diagrams and interconnection diagrams for Control & Protection Panels, devices and FACTs projects.
  • Perform cable ampacity and station auxiliary load calculations.
  • Create Equipment Specifications and detail bill of materials.
  • Managing interfaces with multiple internal and external stakeholders, such as customers, Siemens Energy engineering, Engineering contractors, suppliers, and site contractor(s). Monitor / Report project engineering progress and implement mitigation and corrective actions in coordination with project management; help identify and analyze project risks, and help propose remedial actions.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years’ experience working on substation projects. Experience with FACTS / SVC technology through formal education and / or project work is desirable
  • Licensed Professional Engineer is preferred
  • Prior experience in Engineering Design for utility power projects is desirable
  • Knowledge on ANSI standards and IEC Standards, and AutoCAD
  • Experience with various vendor protective relay equipment typically used in substation. protection, including SEL, Siemens, GE.
  • This position is in a French-speaking environment but requires fluency in English to comprehend documentation and technical terms from international sources, and to communicate with customers, suppliers, or international colleagues.
