Job summary

South Bow Corp. is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the development and execution of large-scale energy infrastructure projects in Alberta.

Qualifications

South Bow is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the development and execution of large-scale energy infrastructure projects. Reporting to senior project leadership, this role is accountable for delivering projects safely, compliantly, on schedule, and within approved budgets while ensuring alignment across engineering, regulatory, commercial and stakeholder, and construction functions. The successful candidate will provide leadership throughout the project lifecycle from project development, regulatory approvals and permitting, execution planning through construction, commissioning, and operational readiness.

This role requires a proven leader with proven experience managing complex capital projects, multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and external stakeholders.

What You'll Do
Project Leadership & Delivery
  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of major capital projects from development through commissioning.
  • Establish project objectives, execution strategies, governance frameworks, and performance metrics.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Provide leadership to integrated project teams and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Project Development & Execution Planning
  • Lead development of project execution strategies, project delivery plans, and readiness assessments.
  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, regulatory, environmental, land, Indigenous relations, stakeholder engagement, and construction activities.
  • Support business case development and investment decision processes.
  • Ensure alignment across project disciplines to achieve key milestones and strategic objectives.
Regulatory & Stakeholder Management
  • Support regulatory application and permitting strategies.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with regulatory agencies, landowners, contractors, customers, and government stakeholders.
  • Ensure project activities comply with regulatory requirements, corporate governance standards, and industry best practices.
  • Manage project commitments and support responses to regulatory inquiries.
Cost, Schedule & Risk Management
  • Lead project controls activities including estimating, budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, and performance reporting.
  • Monitor project risks and opportunities and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure effective project governance and executive reporting.
  • Support development of investment recommendations and project approval documentation.
Contractor & Construction Management
  • Oversee engineering consultants, EPC/EPCM contractors, and key suppliers.
  • Ensure contractor performance meets safety, quality, schedule, and cost expectations.
  • Support construction planning, commissioning activities, and operational readiness.
  • Drive resolution of project execution challenges and facilitate decision-making across stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) designation preferred.
  • Minimum 12–15 years of experience leading major capital project development and execution.
  • Experience managing large-scale, large diameter pipeline projects.
  • Proven track record delivering projects through regulatory approvals, detailed engineering, construction, and commissioning.
  • Strong knowledge of project controls, risk management, contracting strategies, and capital project governance.
  • Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex stakeholder relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting projects through Final Investment Decision (FID).
  • Experience navigating complex regulatory and permitting processes.
  • Experience managing EPC/EPCM contractors and large contractor workforces.
  • Strong commercial and business acumen with the ability to balance risk, cost, schedule, and stakeholder considerations.
