We are seeking a Senior Project Manager, Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability to join our Global Minerals & Metals (M&M) team and to support our growth to align with the demand to supply responsibly sourced critical minerals. With the global demand for critical minerals on the rise, the need for innovative solutions has never been more pressing. With a holistic perspective on the social‑ecological system where the mining operations are, our team embeds resilience more deeply at every stage of the lifecycle, from ‘Anticipate’ and ‘Avoid’ through ‘Withstand’ and ‘Recover. AtkinsRéalis’ sustainable mining services cover the entire mining life cycle. With experience in all aspects of the mining industry, our diverse team is comprised of multidisciplinary experts spread across the globe. From exploration to mine closures, we collaborate with our clients to manage life‑of‑mine risks, understand the social and environmental impacts, and define and implement solutions that touch biology, ecosystems, environmental assessment, integrated watershed management, and earth sciences.

This opportunity will be to support the M&M – ESG & Sustainability team located in any of the major cities of Canada : Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto; including Kelowna.

Responsibilities
  • Manage environmental assessments, biodiversity and ecosystem services, natural capital, wildlife, revegetation, land‑use planning, watershed conservation, nature solutions, and environmental due diligence projects in the minerals and metals industry, from proposal generation to the delivery of quality reports on time and budget.
  • Lead the Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability project delivery team, and communicate clear objectives for the team to understand and achieve project goals in context of the client’s requirements.
  • Support environmental permits and approvals through appropriate collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, and Partner Nations.
  • Understand and participate in engineering and construction processes to ensure the environmental and sustainability requirements and implementation plans have been adequately addressed; measure and integrate the value of environment and biodiversity into business and investment decisions.
  • Manage and develop reports aligned with international standards and guidelines (IFC, ICMM, TNFD, UN Sustainable Development Goals, GRI, MAC‑TSM, Copper Mark).
  • Promote business development activities with current and potential clients, fostering innovation and emerging technologies, and getting involved in relevant conferences in the minerals and metals industry.

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in environmental studies and risk analysis, ecosystem management, biodiversity, natural capital, revegetation, restoration and compensation measures, water stewardship. Strategic understanding of global environmental performance issues, standards, and best practice relevant to the mining industry. Desirable experience with engineering consulting environment.
  • Master’s degree in Biology, Environment Science, Engineering, Natural Science, Sustainability Management, Geoscience, Environmental Planning, Natural Landscape, or related discipline.
  • Demonstrate strong writing skills and abilities by succinctly conveying recommendations, ideas, and insights in reports, presentation materials, client proposals, and other written communications. Fluent in English; Spanish or Portuguese proficiency would be an asset.
  • Relevant professional designation (B.C. R.P.Bio., P.Chem., P.Geo., P.Eng., or P.Ag.) or eligibility status in Canada. Knowledge of relevant federal regulations and standards governing mining operations in Canada and United States.
  • Previous experience developing and embedding sustainability strategies within large complex businesses: e.g., along the different stages of the mine lifecycle.
