Job description

Building on our past. Ready for the future

Worley is a global professional services company of energy, chemicals, and resources experts. We partner with customers to deliver projects and create value over the life of their assets. We’re bridging two worlds, moving towards more sustainable energy sources, while helping to provide the energy, chemicals and resources needed now.

Purpose

Worley is seeking an accomplished Senior Project Director to support the pursuit, development, and delivery of a major nuclear project in Canada.

This role requires a proven EPC/EPCM project leader with experience shaping and delivering complex, multi-billion-dollar capital projects from project definition through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational handover. The successful candidate will lead project delivery, governance, commercial management, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and organizational performance to achieve safe, predictable, and successful outcomes.

This is a rare opportunity to shape, secure, and deliver a transformational nuclear project with the potential to become one of Canada's most significant clean energy investments. Working alongside the client, strategic partners, and technical professionals, the successful candidate will help define the project strategy during the pursuit phase and, following award, lead the project through execution and operational handover.

The Opportunity

The Senior Project Director will be accountable for the successful development and delivery of a major nuclear project, providing leadership continuity from project definition and execution planning through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational handover.

The role requires an experienced project leader capable of establishing the project strategy, governance framework, delivery model, commercial approach, and integrated project organization needed to execute a complex, multi-billion-dollar program.

During the pre-award phase, the successful candidate will support pursuit and capture activities by shaping the winning strategy, execution plan, commercial framework, risk approach, and organizational readiness. Upon project award, the individual will assume full Project Director accountability for project execution and successful handover.

Operating at a senior leadership level, the successful candidate will remain actively engaged in project strategy, execution planning, client management, commercial decision-making, risk management, and delivery performance throughout the project lifecycle.

This opportunity is ideally suited to a senior project leader who combines strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking, and stakeholder leadership with a proven record of delivering major projects in highly regulated environments.

Responsibilities
Project Leadership
  • Provide overall accountability for project safety, scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk, and commercial performance.
  • Establish the project governance structure, strategy, execution framework, and delivery model.
  • Lead an integrated organization spanning engineering, procurement, project controls, construction, commissioning, commercial, and operational readiness functions.
  • Build, develop, and lead high-performing project teams with clear accountability and effective decision-making.
  • Drive timely issue resolution and stakeholder alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain leadership oversight from project development through closeout and operational handover.
Project Delivery and Execution
  • Lead the project through development, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational handover.
  • Establish and implement project execution plans, contracting strategies, procurement approaches, and delivery roadmaps.

  • Lead construction management and commissioning leadership teams to enable safe, predictable, and successful execution.
  • Resolve major project, stakeholder, commercial, and execution challenges.
  • Drive successful transitions between project phases while maintaining continuity of leadership, strategy, and delivery objectives.
Client, Stakeholder and Business Leadership
  • Serve as the senior leadership interface with the client, strategic partners, regulators, contractors, and key stakeholders.
  • Build trusted relationships through transparency, collaboration, and delivery excellence.

  • Support pursuit planning, capture activities, proposal development, and client engagement during the pre-award phase.
  • Provide project delivery expertise during pursuits, including project strategy, execution planning, risk reviews, organizational planning, and delivery readiness.
  • Represent Worley as a trusted advisor and strategic partner throughout the project lifecycle.
