Overview

Thompson Builders Inc. is currently seeking a charismatic and experienced individual to join our team as a Senior Project Coordinator. Reporting to the General Manager but working on a daily basis with our Project Managers, the Project Coordinator is a team-builder with a broad spectrum of talent. This individual would have the drive to progress in their career and be eager to take on additional responsibilities within our Builders Group.

Responsibilities
Office
  • Assisting in the preparation of budgets and regular cost projection reviews
  • Set up and orderly management of project administration files
  • Assisting the Project Managers in expediting project work via negotiated Subcontracts and Purchase Orders
  • Assisting with correspondence to Owner, Architect, Engineers, sub-trades and suppliers in cooperation as directed by the Project Manager and Superintendent
  • Preparing payment requisitions and change management between Thompson and the Client at the direction of the Project Manager
  • Assisting Project Managers with document control (distribution of drawings & specifications) and preparation of Operation + Maintenance manuals
  • Assisting in preparing and updating the project construction schedule
  • Assisting the Project Manager in managing the submittals and approvals process
  • Assisting the Project Manager in the coordination of site superintendents and site labour requirements
  • Assisting in prime contract administration
  • Assisting in sub-contract administration
  • Tracking deliveries of equipment and critical materials at the direction of the Project Manager
  • Calling suppliers and begin to effectively negotiate purchases
  • Assisting in the preparation of estimates and tenders employing your experience and learning the Thompson system of developing estimates
Site
  • Managing site correspondence
  • Maintaining daily job logs
  • Taking photographs and developing weekly progress reports
  • Assisting the Superintendent with daily site management
  • Managing site purchases, rentals, equipment and track materials on site
  • Maintaining and developing site as built drawings
  • Attending project site meetings and sub-trade coordination meetings at the direction of the Project Manager and assisting in the expeditious completion of project deficiencies
Project Support
  • Provide estimating support for change orders and project variations as needed
  • Assist Project Managers with cost-related inquiries during project execution
  • Assist operations through project coordination if estimates are not required
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new construction methods, and estimating technologies
  • Contribute to the improvement of estimating processes and procedures
Qualifications and Skills
  • Diverse experience in working with different types of Light Industrial, Commercial, or vertical civil construction ranging in values between $2-40 million dollars
  • Proficiency in ACC or related software
  • University Degree in Engineering, or Engineering Technology Diploma, or a combination of education and construction experience
  • 4+ years of experience in the construction industry
  • Knowledge of ICI and Multi-Family Building Construction
  • Software Skills: Proficiency with the MS Office Suite and project management software. Knowledge of Autodesk Construction Cloud Software is an asset
  • Desire for Growth: Eagerness to learn and grow, with a willingness to acquire new software skills as needed
  • Valid driver’s license
