Job description
Senior Project Architect (High-Rise and Senior Living)

Welcome to Kasian, where almost 40 years of design excellence has sparked a passion for transforming ordinary spaces into extraordinary experiences. Our passion is strengthening connections between people and places by creating built environments that inspire and improve lives. With offices across Canada, we leverage the experience of our 250+ Kasian team members to deliver innovative and unique design solutions in multiple market sectors: commercial, workplace, healthcare, senior living, industrial, transportation, post-secondary and other public opportunities.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a motivated and passionate Senior Project Architect to complement our Vancouver office, where we are involved in exciting work across a range of building types, including commercial, mixed-use, retail, industrial, hospitality, public buildings, and healthcare. You will provide design leadership on various projects and may oversee the entire design process, or assist a design team with specialized design and act as a design resource for specific components of projects. You may work on several concurrent projects of varying sizes, including those that are large and complex. Assist in the education and development of design staff. High-Rise and Senior Living Projects are essential.

  • Work with talented architects and technologists to produce quality projects for private sector clients
  • Develop project criteria, the scope of services, detailed work plans, drawing lists, schedules, and resource (staff, technical, and budget) requirements over the project lifecycle
  • Push the boundaries of design while meeting the needs of clients and end-users; participate in stakeholder meetings, create design concepts and presentation material
  • Lead, motivate, and manage the project team to produce successful design and construction documentation
  • Coordinate with project consultants (i.e. electrical, mechanical, structural)
  • Manage client relationships and actively develop these throughout the project process
  • Ensure projects are delivered effectively through efficient resource management and by achieving scheduled milestones

Here’s what you bring to Kasian:

  • B.Arch or M.Arch from an accredited architectural program, coupled with a minimum of 10+ years of architectural experience; 5 years minimum in high-rise and senior living projects.
  • Registration with a provincial regulatory board
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Experience leading projects of at least $25m (construction value) with minimal supervision
  • An innovative and forward-thinking approach to design and a natural curiosity for staying current with new trends, materials, and construction methods
  • Strong technical knowledge and technical drawing experience in Revit
  • Excellent graphic communication and presentations skills
  • An ability to add value to all stages of project delivery

Salary starts at $100,000+ per annum, based on a 40-hour work week. Actual compensation is subject to variations due to education, experience, and skill set.

What We Offer:

  • Great downtown office location with easy access to public transport
