The Adventure Ahead

Step into the driver’s seat of the high-octane engine that powers Docebo’s enterprise automation platform! In this role, you will architect, build, and scale business-critical backend systems in Go and PHP that seamlessly onboard millions of users. You’ll serve as the primary technical advisor and force multiplier for our product and engineering teams, solving complex automation logic while directly elevating the technical craft of those around you. If you get excited by high scale, deep architectural ownership, and making a massive impact on enterprise-grade software, your next great journey starts right here!

The Day-to-Day
  • Lead the Charge: Drive complex, multi-sprint technical initiatives from initial spark to seamless deployment while staying ahead of scope, dependencies, and risks.

  • Architect for Scale: Design and operate high-performing, resilient backend services using Go, PHP, AWS, Kubernetes, DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, and MySQL to effortlessly handle millions of users.

  • Write Exemplary Code: Craft clean, elegant Go code for our newest automation features while actively maintaining and leveling up our core PHP services.

  • Elevate the Craft: Conduct thoughtful code reviews, lead technical design discussions, write clear architectural design docs, and establish SLOs to keep our incident rates low.

  • Multiply Team Impact: Mentor and pair with engineers, guiding their career growth, while acting as a trusted partner to Product and Design to shape our product roadmap.

  • Tackle Complex Challenges: Balance long-term strategic roadmap delivery with Tier-1 customer escalations and technical debt, diving in to troubleshoot mission-critical issues across the stack.

Your Superpowers
  • Backend Mastery: 4-8 years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in Go and performance-driven batch processing systems, paired with solid working knowledge of PHP.

  • System Design Genius: Proven track record of designing, building, and operating scalable microservices, distributed systems, and domain-driven architectures at enterprise scale.

  • Cloud & Infrastructure Expertise: Advanced, hands-on experience with AWS, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, and data stores like DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.

  • Reliability & Observability Guru: Deep understanding of testing strategies (unit, integration, E2E) and modern observability platforms like Datadog to manage incidents and protect long‑term system health.

  • Strategic Force Multiplier: Outstanding ability to mentor teammates, communicate complex technical trade‑offs to non‑technical stakeholders, and make sound decisions under uncertainty.

  • Timezone Anchor: Based in Canada to deliver seamless, sustainable timezone coverage for our North American enterprise customers alongside our Italy‑based engineering team.

Bonus Points
  • Cross‑Stack Versatility: Strong knack for jumping into moderate complexity tasks outside your primary domain to unblock cross‑functional engineering teams.

  • Continuous Improvement Champion: Passion for driving engineering‑wide initiatives, whether standardizing deployment patterns, refining testing practices, or bringing emerging technology innovations into the fold.

Our Interview Process

Step 1: We’ll kick things off with a 30‑minute video call with a member of our Talent team. We’ll get to know you, share more about the role and team, and make sure we’re aligned.

Step 2: A 60‑minute video call with the hiring manager and a senior software engineer, where they’ll dig deeper into your experience, approach, and what excites you most about this opportunity.

Step 3: Technical Deep Dive & System Design Discussion with key members of the Product Engineering team.

Step 4: Final conversation with Engineering Leadership to discuss vision, values, and team alignment.
