Our goal is to make education accessible to all, and we need talented designers like you to help realize this vision.

Responsibilities:

  • Convey a strategic perspective with conviction, informed by business and market insights, and take ownership of parts of a larger strategic initiative.
  • Break down and sequence work into executable deliverables, planning for iteration and continuous improvement in an agile fashion.
  • Create innovative, systematic design solutions that meet high standards of usability and aesthetics, enabling efficiency, reuse, and scale across the product.
  • Partner with product managers, engineers, researchers, and data scientists to bring products from initial definition through shipping and beyond.
  • Combine insights from multiple sources into cohesive design recommendations, and use data to frame hypotheses, success metrics, and guardrails that inform design decisions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of experience as a UX or Product Designer, with a portfolio demonstrating ownership of design work across the full product lifecycle.
  • Experience with core UX methods — including user research, synthesizing insights, creating user flows, defining information architecture, and producing wireframes and prototypes.
  • Experience with interaction and visual design, including working within and contributing to existing design systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to design responsive, mobile-first experiences informed by user research and data insights. Proficiency in design and collaboration tools such as Figma and FigJam.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate design rationale and influence cross-functional stakeholders, including PMs, engineers, and researchers.
  • Incorporates AI into the design process, using tools like Claude Code alongside Figma to speed up prototyping, explore more concepts faster, and iterate on ideas in new ways.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing AI-driven products, including prompt-based interactions and best practices for human-AI collaboration.
  • Experience coaching or mentoring less-experienced designers on design thinking and craft best practices.
  • Passion for education, learning transformation, and Coursera's mission to make world-class learning accessible to everyone.
