Job summary

Silent-Aire, a division of Johnson Controls, is seeking a Senior Product Design Engineer in Edmonton to lead complex equipment design for manufacturing-scale products. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Senior-level product design experience delivering complex equipment in a production environment.
• Ability to work independently on complex technical problems and drive solutions with multiple stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and how design decisions impact cost, quality and throughput.
• Proficiency in PTC Creo 9, with working knowledge of Windchill PLM and SAP.
• Ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical presentations.
• Familiarity with air handling and OEM equipment standards and practices.
• Experience in equipment design within a manufacturing environment.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex product design and development work for data center equipment, ensuring robust, manufacturable solutions.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain and project teams to evaluate components and establish SOPs.
• Create and release accurate 3D models, drawings, and documentation using Creo 9 and ensure change control compliance.
• Improve manufacturability and reduce variation through DF(M) practice and design changes.
• Draft mechanical parts, sub-assemblies, and sheet-metal components for production.
• Develop design solutions that optimize cost, quality and schedule across teams.
• Manage engineering changes and resolve design issues throughout the lifecycle.
• Perform technical investigations with engineering, manufacturing and vendors.
