Brown and Caldwell has an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated Senior Process Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Vancouver, This is a great opportunity to work for an environmentally focused engineering consulting firm. The successful candidate will work on various water / wastewater projects for municipal and federal clients. We offer a collaborative, multi-discipline environment to develop innovative, cost-effective designs for new facilities, expansions, upgrades and retrofits.

Detailed Description

Our ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills, be highly organized and capable of working in a diverse team environment and handling multiple tasks with competing priorities. You will be leading technical staff and executing the following types of work :

  • Perform engineering work with the Process Mechanical Design Discipline team on water and wastewater projects including pipelines, pumping stations, and treatment plants for municipal clients.
  • Lead teams on engineering designs, preparing reports, construction drawings, specifications, calculations, and equipment selection for various projects.
  • Analysis and design of pipeline hydraulics for both open channel and closed conduits.
  • Preparation of technical memoranda, engineering reports and electronic deliverables.
  • Lead studies, permitting and alternatives analysis.
  • Check performance or conformity with plans and specifications through field inspections as part of engineering services during construction.
  • Conduct field work, such as site investigations, as necessary for various projects.
  • Communicate effectively and coordinate with project teams including other disciplines.
  • Data collection, manipulation, analysis, and documentation.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams and facilitate coordination of project work with geotechnical, architectural, process, civil, mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical engineers and consultants.
  • Contribute to company standard detail and specification development and updates.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil / Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field.
  • license in British Columbia.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Good technical skills with the ability to articulate ideas and concepts both visually and verbally.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to use standard computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Civil / Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with Egnyte, ACC, SpecLink, and Bluebeam is desired.
  • Experience using engineering calculation software (MathCAD, AFT Fathom / Arrow) is desired.
  • Field / construction experience is a plus.
  • GIS experience is a plus.
Salary Range

The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Salary : $147,000 - $202,000 CAD
