Job summary

WSP Canada is seeking an experienced water treatment engineer to lead and support projects across Western Canada, including industrial, mine water, and municipal systems. You will manage scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to business development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and P.Eng. eligibility in a Canadian province.
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant water and wastewater treatment engineering experience.
  • Experience with water treatment process design, analysis, and project delivery.
  • Familiarity with process modelling software such as HYSYS, OLI, or Metsim is an asset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining technical quality and client service.
  • Experience supporting proposals, project management, and business development.
  • Strong communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, clients and stakeholders.
  • Field, construction, commissioning, or operational experience is an asset.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel occasionally.

Your Impact

  • Lead and support the delivery of industrial, mine water, and municipal water treatment projects from planning through execution.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables to achieve successful client outcomes.
  • Develop technical reports, specifications, process schematics, and treatment system designs that support critical infrastructure projects.
  • Analyze and design water treatment processes including technology selection, equipment sizing, hydraulic analysis, process modelling, and mass balance development.
  • Collaborate with clients, vendors, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to advance innovative and practical solutions.
  • Contribute to business development activities through proposal preparation, engineering estimates, and client relationship building.
  • Guide and mentor junior engineers while supporting quality reviews and technical excellence across project teams.
  • Help strengthen WSP\'s water treatment practice through continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and technical leadership.

The Skills That Set You Apart

  • Bachelor\'s degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in a Canadian province, or eligible for registration.
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in water and wastewater treatment engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience with water treatment process design, analysis, and project delivery.
  • Experience with process modelling software such as HYSYS, OLI, or Metsim is considered an asset.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining strong technical quality and client service.
  • Experience supporting proposals, project management, and business development initiatives.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Field, construction, commissioning, or operational experience is considered an asset.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $114,600 - $151,800

MB & ON: $104,500 - $143,900

NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $103,500 - $137,400
