Job summary

Akkodis, a leading professional services firm, is seeking a Senior Privacy Specialist to support its Privacy Office in Canada. You will work autonomously within a cross-functional privacy program, handling privacy incidents, PIAs, and regulatory readiness.

The role offers hybrid or fully remote work from anywhere in Canada, with EST hours, and requires hands-on privacy operations knowledge across regulated environments.

Qualifications

About the Engagement

Akkodis is partnering with a leading Insurance organization to engage an experienced Senior Privacy Specialist to support its Privacy Office during a critical period of growth and operational demand.

This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned privacy professional who enjoys being hands‑on while operating with a high degree of autonomy. While the title is Senior Privacy Specialist, the client is seeking a manager‑level individual contributor who can quickly integrate into an established privacy function and independently manage a significant portion of the privacy program.

The successful candidate will support enterprise‑wide privacy initiatives, manage privacy incidents and breach investigations, coordinate Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), provide business stakeholder advisory services, and contribute to regulatory readiness activities across the organization.

Working closely with Privacy, Compliance, Legal, Risk, Cyber Security, and business stakeholders, you will play a key role in protecting personal information and strengthening privacy practices across the enterprise.

Services to be Provided:
  • Manage privacy incident, breach, complaint, and access request intake, investigations, and resolution activities
  • Coordinate and support Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) for new projects, initiatives, processes, and technologies
  • Provide privacy consultations and advisory support to business stakeholders across multiple functions
  • Support the ongoing enhancement and execution of the enterprise privacy program
  • Partner with Privacy Champions and business leaders to promote privacy awareness and compliance
  • Support privacy‑related regulatory filings, breach reporting, and compliance obligations
  • Maintain privacy records, investigation documentation, and evidence repositories
  • Administer and support privacy management activities within Onspring and related governance tools
  • Develop and maintain KPI/KRI reporting, dashboards, and privacy metrics
  • Support privacy readiness initiatives, regulatory change projects, and continuous improvement activities
  • Prepare clear, accurate, and professional written communications, assessments, reports, and recommendations
  • Manage multiple concurrent privacy matters while exercising sound judgment and prioritization skills
  • Proven experience in privacy, data protection, privacy compliance, or privacy governance experience
  • Hands‑on experience managing privacy incidents, breach investigations, and privacy response activities
  • Demonstrated experience supporting and coordinating Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs)
  • Experience providing privacy consultations and advisory services to business stakeholders
  • Experience supporting enterprise privacy programs within regulated environments
  • Strong understanding of privacy legislation, regulatory obligations, and privacy risk management principles
  • Excellent written communication, documentation, and reporting skills
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and reporting tools
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship‑building capabilities
Additional Skills in some of the Following Areas would be a Plus:
  • Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance experience
  • Insurance industry experience
  • Financial Services or Banking experience
  • Healthcare or other highly regulated industry environments
  • Experience with Onspring or similar privacy/governance platforms
  • Experience supporting privacy metrics, KPI/KRI reporting, and executive dashboards
  • Experience supporting regulatory examinations, audits, or compliance reviews
  • Exposure to privacy governance, data protection, information governance, or compliance frameworks
  • CIPP/C, CIPM, CIPT, CAN/DGSI, or other privacy certifications
  • Experience working with cross‑functional teams including Legal, Compliance, Risk Management, Information Security, and Technology
Ideal Background:
  • We are particularly interested in candidates who have operated as a Privacy Manager, Privacy Officer, Privacy Lead, Senior Privacy Advisor, or Senior Privacy Specialist and have hands‑on ownership of privacy operations.
  • The ideal candidate has direct experience managing privacy incidents, breach investigations, PIAs, access requests, complaints, stakeholder consultations, and enterprise privacy program activities.
  • Candidates from P&C Insurance, Insurance, Financial Services, Banking, Healthcare, or other regulated industries will be highly regarded.
  • This role is best suited to a highly organized and independent privacy professional who can quickly integrate into the team, operate with minimal direction, and confidently manage a significant portion of the privacy program from day one.
